B.A. Lewis was born as Bryan Alexander Lewis in Chicago Illinois. His family moved to rural Oklahoma where he gained knowledge of both inner city and rural settings, which has given him a unique perspective.
Lewis graduated with an MFA from Florida State University, College of Motion Picture Arts in 2011. His thesis film, "The Collegians," has garnered awards from notable festivals, including Pan African Film Festival, Run, and Shoot Martha's Vineyard, as well as earning a Student Emmy nomination for "Best Use of Music" as the Composer for his film. Most recently Lewis landed a distribution deal with American Black Film Festival for a television release of his film The Collegians (2011) with Magic Johnson's T.V. Network, "Aspire."
