Mom Marissa and her second husband Eric realize their relationship has lost its spark and hope to rekindle it. “Instead of meeting someone new, our story could be about finding love again…...

Very low-budget shocker sees American family stalked by the spectre of a bereaved mother taking vengeance on other people’s kids
Set in some densely forested, geographically-non-specific corner of Mexico, this very low-budget horror story features Autumn Reeser as suburban SoCal mom Carly Candlewood, who arrives for a holiday with her husband Andrew (Antonio Cupo) and young son Danny (Nicolas Madrazo). Together, they’re hoping to heal as a family after Carly’s recent miscarriage. Unfortunately, no one mentioned in the TripAdvisor reviews that the canals near the small hotel where the Candlewoods are staying have been haunted for years by a spooky ghost lady called La Llorona (Zamia Fandiño).

In the clip below, young Danny is attacked while alone in the water, but his parents disagree on whether or not a supernatural spirit may have been involved.
"A malevolent spirit bent on vengeance, stalks a young family visiting Mexico. Andrew, Carly and their son Danny travel to an isolated hacienda in Mexico for a much needed vacation. As they enter the town, signs showing missing children set an ominous tone. The family learns of the legend of “La Llorona,” the evil spirit of a distraught mother who lurks near the water’s edge and strikes fear in the hearts of all who see her. "What's a Llorona? And what does it want with my son?" Saban Films has unveiled an official US trailer for a horror film titled The Legend of La Llorona, the feature debut of filmmaker Patricia Harris Seeley. This is the third horror film in the last few years about the Mexican ghost story of La Llorona. Warner Bros released The Curse of La Llorona, then there was also La Llorona from Guatemala last year. Do we really need another one? This one looks like the least interesting one yet. While vacationing in Mexico, a couple discovers their son's disappearance is tied to a supernatural curse. Aided by the resourceful taxi driver Jorge (Danny Trejo) the family races to save their only child, navigating the foreboding countryside held by menacing cartel thugs. Gaining strength and power and leaving a path of death and destruction in her wake, La Llorona is seemingly unstoppable.

Lifetime has done it again with a harrowing but thoughtful film on domestic abuse.
Sleeping With Danger is the first in a two-night true crime series based on Ann Rule's Mortal Danger True Crime Collection.
And with incredibly strong performances by Elisabeth Röhm and Antonio Cupo, powerful writing, and artful direction and more, Lifetime delivered a compelling and impactful piece.
When Kim Raver and Manu Boyer come together with Lifetime for films, magic seems to happen. We've seen it before with the Jane Green book-to-series event, and we are seeing it again now.
It's something about the style of their films that feels unique for the network. Their movies are elevated and high-brow.
They never exhibit a hint of camp, and they somehow skirt that indie vibe that's just a touch dramatic.

One of the upcoming horror movies that I'm most interested in checking out as soon as possible is The Soska Sisters' remake of A History of Violence and Eastern Promises director David Cronenberg's Rabid starring Laura Vandervoort. And if you are looking forward to The Soska Sisters' Rabid as well, then today you'll be glad to hear we not only have the movie's first trailer but word that the flick will be hosting its world premiere at this year's London FrightFest Film Festival on August 26, 2019.

That was an effective change of pace.
The name Cleopatra barely came up on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 8.
I worried about the hunt for Cleopatra getting old after a certain amount of episodes.
Instead, the powers that be decided to use Danny and Lexi's unique skill sets to solve a different mystery.

Why not go to Casablanca, if only so you can dust off every cliche related to the classic film based in the Moroccan city?
And unbelievably that worked on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 7.
One big reason was that there was actually some progress made on this global treasure hunt, at about the halfway point of the season.
Up until now, the series has been an awful lot of action with precious little results. While that may work for a while in a video game, it's not the formula for an enduring TV show.
Since Danny and Lexi's choices in pursuit of Cleopatra had put them on the outs with Gwen, the only law-enforcement type that either of them trusted, they spent a great deal of this episode on the run.
Jay's black card stopped working, and the Casablanca police were searching for them, undoubtedly at the request of Interpol.

Never lose yourself in another person. You never know how long it'll take to find yourself again. It'll save everyone a boatload of heartache.
After the unexpectedly good Tempting Fate, Lifetime's Book-to-Screen movies continued with the second movie in the Jane Green series, To Have and to Hold.
Let's get it out of the way now. If you're anything like me, this movie already had you for the sole fact that it starred the timeless beauty and talent that is Erika Christensen.
To echo what Antonio Cupo (Joe) said in TV Fanatic's exclusive interview with him, how can anyone step out on such an angel?
But alas, that's the case with Gigolo Joe who couldn't keep his pants zipped. It's a tale as old as time.

If you're looking for light summer entertainment on broadcast television, look no further than Blood & Treasure.
The Indiana Jones-esque series is fun, adventurous, pretty to look at, and features witty repartee between the leads that sells very well.
The series follows Danny McNamara (Matt Barr) as a former FBI agent turned antiquities hunter who gets reined by his mentor to hunt down a friend and fellow treasure hunter who goes missing in Egypt shortly after discovering the tomb of Antony and Cleopatra.
If that's doesn't sound exciting enough for you, Danny requests the aid of his former girlfriend and art thief, Lexi (Sofia Pernas) who is the yin to his yang.
While Danny is level headed and works within the lines (such that they are in his line of work), Lexi works with a lot more flash and brute force.

Both movies premiere next year, along with another based on Green’s Tempting Fate, which will star Alyssa Milano.
Family Pictures stars Machado (Jane the Virgin) and Sylvie and Röhm (Law & Order) as Maggie, strangers living on opposite coasts, leading very similar lives with husbands that travel for work too much and daughters about to leave the nest. But when their daughters befriend each other on a college tour, they soon discover a shocking secret that threatens to tear both families apart. Passmore’s (Jigsaw) role was not specified.

Jen and Sylvia Soska should be on the radar of most fans of the horror genre and it’s progression as a genre with something unique and interesting to offer the current earth or cinema. Their previous, and debut, flick was Dead Hooker in a Trunk, which was written and directed by the spooksome twosome, who also appeared in main roles in the flick. It wasn’t anything special as far as I’m concerned but it has a cult following and it did show the capabilities of these two genuinely interesting filmmakers as well as offering a glimpse at what they could do in a shoestring budget and no-name talent.

At first glance the directing duo of Jen and Sylvia Soska might appear to be little more than a shtick. Twins with jet black hair, wonderfully foul mouths and an affection for the bloody wet stuff, they could easily be mistaken for filmmakers more interested in style than substance. But while their feature debut, Dead Hooker In a Trunk, is a brilliant title in search of a worthwhile film, just three short years later they’ve made a dramatic leap in quality with their sophomore effort. American Mary is part revenge thriller, part black comedy and part body modification training video, and it works hard to tell an original and entertaining story. It’s an odd film destined to stand apart in a genre overrun with ghosts, found footage and masked serial killers, and the fact that it’s anchored by a fantastic female lead performance is just icing on the blood-lined cake. Keep...

Directors/writers: Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska. Cast: Katharine Isabelle, Antonio Cupo, Tristan Risk, David Lovgren and Paula Lindberg. This horror film fan knows the Soska sisters, Jen and Sylvia, through their previous work, Dead Hooker in a Trunk. This viewer was not a fan of this early work. However, the Soska sisters latest endeavour is a vast improvement over this 2009 film. Their latest, American Mary, takes some time to build momentum, but the journey to the blood-soaked conclusion is still an enjoyable time. There are some weak moments involving shallow characterizations and poor tension between Bloody Mary (Katharine Isabelle) and the villains in this body horror piece; yet, American Mary is a compelling time, mostly due to actress Katharine Isabelle's solid performance. The film's story is diverse. Though, the central story focuses on Mary Mason and her difficulties with school and financial responsibilities. Mary hopes to be a surgeon,...

Even for a person with no tattoos or piercings and little interest in goth pin-up culture, there’s plenty of interest to explore in American Mary. The story of a struggling medical student who more or less accidentally becomes a body modification expert, the sophomore effort from twin filmmakers Jen and Sylvia Soska is polished and smart.
American Mary is significant step up in quality from their debut, Dead Hooker In A Trunk, even when it fails to dissect the larger sociological context or even the direct emotional ramifications of its young protagonist’s unconventional career choice. Alternately creepy and languid, incisive and aimless, American Mary examines a provocative subject, heralding the duo as a couple of the genre’s next great voices – that is, as soon as their follow-through proves as strong as their set-up.
