Hitting cinemas in just a couple of weeks is a British film already being hailed as a Taxi Driver for the 21st century. Panic is set against the ruthless backdrop of London’s exploitation of migrant labour, and features a star-making turn from rising international talent David Gyasi (Interstellar, Cloud Atlas, The Dark Knight Rises).

Synopsis:

Panic tells the story of an agoraphobic journalist, Andrew Deeley, who witnesses a horrific crime from the safety of his home. Deeley must leave his flat and overcome his agoraphobia in order to solve the crime and save his neighbour Kem.

A London based music journalist Andrew Deeley, played by David Gyasi (Interstellar), is agoraphobic, with most of his relationships played out through a set of binoculars and a telephone. During a session with his binoculars, Deeley witnesses his neighbour Kem violently kidnapped from her home. Deeley becomes obsessed with finding out what happened to her (rightfully so), but must overcome his fear of the great outdoors to become her saviour. The movie revolves around the residents of an apartment block, who attempt to escape the locked-down building after being contained with no explanation.

David Lemon writes the film, while Neil Mcenery-West directs.

Lee Ross, Sheila Reid and Pippa Nixon star alongside Brealey in the thriller.

The film is released in select UK theatres from today (Friday, September 11), until Monday, September 21.

‘Containment’ Review

When deadbeat dad and failing artist Mark (jeez, close to the bone much?) wakes up in his dingy London council flat late one morning, he thinks the worst that’s going to happen is losing a custody battle for his child. While that is pretty bad, Mark’s day soon goes even further downhill when he discovers that he and every other tenant in his estate has been sealed into their homes and they may or may not have been exposed to a deadly virus.

Vision captures UK thriller 'Containment'

Exclusive: Us sales outfit boards rights to UK thriller.

Vision Films has boarded rights to UK thriller Containment, the debut feature from London-based director Neil Mcenery West.

Lee Ross, Louise Brealey, Sheila Reid, Andrew Leung and rising theatre stars Pippa Nixon and Andrew Postlethwaite star in the story of an artist who wakes one morning to discover that the doors and windows of his apartment have been sealed shut with sinister figures lurking outside and a killer virus from within.

The deal was brokered between Lise Romanoff at Vision Films and Simon Sole at Bandoola Productions, the financing and production outfit behind the film.

Producers are Christine Hartland of Patchwork Productions and Casey Herbert and Pete Smyth of Bright Cold Day Films.

Filming Now Under Way on UK Sci-Fi Thriller Containment

A couple months back we reported that production was getting ready to begin on a new thriller titled Containment, and today we've gotten word that filming is indeed under way. Read on for the latest!

Screen Daily reports that the sci-fi flick's shoot has just kicked off over in the British city of Southampton. The script was written by David Lemon, and the film marks the feature debut of Neil West.

Containment tells the tale of an artist who wakes one morning to discover that the doors and windows of his apartment have been sealed shut.

Other cast members include Lee Ross, Sheila Reid, Andrew Leung, Gabriel Senior, William Postlethwaite, Louise Brealey, and Pippa Nixon.

The low-budget film is financed by Bandoola Productions, a new finance vehicle set up by entrepreneur Simon Sole. It's produced by Casey Herbert and Pete Smyth’s Bright Cold Day Films and Christine Hartland’s Patchwork Productions.

UK thriller Containment, the feature debut of Bifa-winning producer Casey Herbert and fellow Nfts graduate Pete Smyth, is underway in Southampton.

The Bright Cold Day Films duo is producing the thriller - about neighbours who wake one morning to find they have been sealed inside their apartments - with Patchwork ProductionsChristine Hartland (Wmd).

Cast includes Lee Ross, Sheila Reid, Andrew Leung, Gabriel Senior, William Postlethwaite, Louise Brealey and Pippa Nixon.

Neil West, director of short Undertow, makes his feature debut on the script from David Lemon (Faintheart).

The low-budget film is financed by Bandoola Productions, a new finance vehicle set up by entrepreneur Simon Sole.

Herbert won a 2012 Bifa for short Volume [pictured]. The duo’s current slate includes Heists, a 13-part television series in development with Norwegian television network TV2, and the debut feature of Screen Star of Tomorrow Mahalia Belo, which is in development
