In addition to her other achievements, she must surely be noted for her work in the series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in her part as Judge Ruth Linden. Over several appearances as a judge in the New York Family Court she certainly conveyed lawyer-like rigidity and judgmental firmness, but combined that with an underlying motherly understanding exactly appropriate to Family Court.

Nominated for the 2006 Tony Award (New York City) for Supporting or Features Actress in a Drama for "Well".
She was awarded the 2005 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Supporting Role in a Play for "The Pain and the Itch", at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago, Illinois.
Graduate of the Academy of Dramatic Art in Rochester, Michigan. Other alumni include Curtis Armstrong, Robert Englund and Richard Riehle.
Won 2016 Tony Award for her performance in "The Humans.".
