Exclusive: ICM Partners has signed Patrick Aison, a neophyte scribe who was pursued by the agencies after Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot acquired his spec script Wunderkind, a ’70s-set action/thriller that follow a young Nazi hunter with the CIA and an older Nazi hunter working for the Mossad after they team up. Aison most recently co-wrote with Brad Kean the sci-fi thriller spec Echo Station, a $20 million which Daybreakers helmers Michael and Peter Spierig will direct, with funding from Singapore and Australia. It shoots this fall in Australia, produced by Circle of Confusion and H2F. Aison, a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts masters program, is managed by H2F and lawyered by Peter Sample.

While we all eagerly await the next production from Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot (that would be Star Trek 2, if you’re living under a rock), the studio and the filmmaker’s production shingle have picked up not one, but two brand-new scripts from fresh screenwriters that look to fit right into their wheelhouse. Hey, it’s not everyone’s wheelhouse that includes both Nazi hunters and sci-fi movies that rely on hard-core psychics to make sense, and that’s a credit to the partnership. First up, on the more official side of things, Paramount has sent out a press release (via Deadline Livermore) announcing their acquisition of a spec script from screenwriter Patrick Aison called Wunderkind that they will be producing alongside Bad Robot. H2F.s Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton will executive produce with Brian McCurley serving as associate producer. Bad Robot is going into search and destroy mode with the Nazi-hunting drama Wunderkind.

J.J. Abrams’ production company is teaming up with Paramount Pictures after optioning the script for the film, about a young CIA agent investigating German war criminals and an aging Israeli Mossad agent pursuing the same.

Set in the 1970s, the original story by screenwriter Patrick Aison takes place against the backdrop of the Cold War as the two agents from friendly but rival nations tentatively join forces in their hunt — which, of course, doesn’t turn out nearly as they expected.
