Wendell Hanes is an EMMY AWARD-WINNING TV and FILM Composer, and owner of Volition Sound in New York City. He earned a SPORTS EMMY in 2021 and PRIMETIME EMMY consideration in 2020 as music composer and music supervisor for the EMMY NOMINATED NETFLIX sitcom "FAMILY REUNION." He scored both THE BREONNA TAYLOR DOCUMENTARY for HULU as well as the highly acclaimed feature doc, "THE SIT IN: HARRY BELAFONTE HOSTS THE TONIGHT SHOW." Hanes also was honored to score Oscar Nominated Producer/director Lisa Cortes and Farah X's 6 time Award-Winning NETFLIX documentary "THE REMIX: HIP HOP X FASHION" and Executive Producer James Cameron's NETFLIX film "THE GAME CHANGERS. His work can also be seen in the NETFLIX Feature film release "FRESHMEN YEAR" which was nominated for BEST MUSIC SCORE. Known in the Television arena for having produced and arranged ESPN'S flagship musical themes for SPORTSCENTER, NFL COUNTDOWN, COLLEGE GAMEDAY, THE NBA, THE XFL and HIGH NOON, Hanes and his company have branded the sound for high profile networks around the globe. He's been fortunate to win every major award in Advertising including CLIOS, CANNES LIONS, EFFIES, ADDY'S, LONDON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS, ANDY'S, ONE SHOWS, and GOLDEN AWARD of MONTREAUX'S. With over 2,000 commercials, 35 Films scored and another 30 music supervised, Hanes has become a trailblazer when it comes to composing to picture. His company VOLITION SOUND is responsible for having created the unique sound for every major brand and network from McDONALDS to PEPSI to ABC and HBO. Hanes' strong team of VOLITION composers have had major placements in Feature Films Vicki Christina Barcelona and Get Rich or Die Tryin' as well as records on albums for 50 Cent, Jay Z, Mary J Blige, Usher, and Beyonce. Hanes even brought his classical scoring and sound design talents to the world of HIP HOP by working on projects for rappers LIL WAYNE, DRAKE, FUTURE, NIKKI MINAJ and YO GOTTI. After scoring a wave of documentaries such as , HARRY BENSON: SHOOT FIRST, HILLEMAN: A PERILOUS QUEST TO SAVE THE WORLD'S CHILDREN, and CRAZY ABOUT TIFFANY'S. Hanes is also a gifted song writer having written and produced over 20 songs for the new NETFLIX sitcom FAILY REUNION and produced singles for 3 Time Grammy Nominated artist RAHEEM DEVAUGHN, MYA, BLACKSHEEP, Q TIP, THE BEATNUTS, and BRAND NUBIAN. Hanes' versatility is his biggest strength having an ear for creating music in a multitude of genres has helped his company cross all mediums from TV to FILM to ADVERTISING and to RECORDS.
