Paul Santa Maria
- Composer
Paul Santa Maria was born in Buffalo. His love of music
began with hearing "Chanson d'Mour" by Art and Dotty Todd over and over
in his home as a 6 year old and was cemented in place by the appearance
of the Beatles. Paul demanded a guitar for his 11th
birthday, got it and set out to teach himself the instrument. By age
12, he was performing professionally in his own little combo that
played the University of Buffalo, church and school dances and parties.
Years of performing in pop bands all over the US and Canada honed his
musical prowess on the guitar.
Cut to the invention of personal 4-track recorders and then digital sequencers and now Paul could record in his own room without need for any other performers and he created a staggering amount of music. As the in-house composer for WPBT Channel 2 in Miami, Florida (a PBS station) he composed over 665 pieces of music for every need and in every style required.
The films noted here on IMDb.com were the results of Miami projects for Xavier Barquet and he also was employed for scores for films by noted director Alyn Darnay. Paul composed the score for the 1st Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival and has won numerous film score awards, including 5 places out of the 7 finalists in the 1997 Wolfson Film Competition!
Paul continues to accept film scoring projects as of 2012, and is a full-time guitarist, singer and entertainer. He has added "author" to his list of accomplishments with his book "The Guitar Explained" and is also an amazing fine and graphic artist with many clients.
