Halina Kliem's short film "The AIs" (2021) is an experimental tale on learning and unlearning, mind and labor, dynamics of bias, and a dialogue between human and non-humane entities.
Her experimental short film "Lucid Dreams" (2020) premiered at the Florida Film Festival and in the European Competition at This Is Short, founded and selected by Kurzfilmfestival Oberhausen in Germany, Vienna Shorts in Austria, Go Short - International Short Film Festival Nijmegen in the Netherlands, and Short Waves Festival in Poland. Halina studied multimedia art, experimental film, and photography at Carnegie Mellon College of Fine Arts in Pittsburgh and is a graduate of the University of Fine Arts in Berlin.
"The Purple Video" (2019) premiered at the Florida Film Festival, Brooklyn Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, Culver City Film Festival, and the San Francisco International Festival of Short Film. Her work was exhibited at Neue Aachener Kunstverein, Fitzpatrick-Leland House by MAK Center in Los Angeles, Kunstmuseum Bonn, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and Pace Gallery in NYC. Halina is interested in the variations and gaps that occur within language and communication.
