U.K.-based sales firm 101 Films Intl., part of Amcomri Entertainment, has secured worldwide distribution rights to apocalyptic thriller “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist,” the recently completed sequel to 2014’s “Left Behind,” which featured Nicolas Cage. The movie is available for the first time at the Cannes Film Market this week.
In “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist,” contemporary events are shown as setting the stage for the return of Christ and the coming Apocalypse. The film follows the original characters and storylines of the best-selling books, which were written in the mid-nineties and have sold more than 80 million copies in multiple languages, but have been updated.
“Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist” is directed by and stars Kevin Sorbo (“Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”), one of the most recognized names in the multibillion-dollar faith-based film industry; Neal McDonough (“Captain America: The First Avenger”); Corbin Bernsen (“LA Law”); and Bailey Chase...

Neal McDonough, Corbin Bernsen and Bailey Chase have joined Kevin Sorbo in apocalyptic thriller “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist.”
The movie is the latest instalment in the Bible prophecy-themed “Left Behind” film and book series (authored by the late Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins), and it is the sequel to 2014’s “Left Behind,” which featured Nicolas Cage. “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist” follows the original characters and storylines of the books, but its fictional world, originally conceived in the mid-nineties, has been updated to reflect today’s world.

Finally, the day we’ve all been waiting for has arrived. No, I’m not talking about any of that “Oscars” silliness, or Neil Patrick Harris taking on hosting duties. No, I’m talking about the 2015 Razzie Awards, in which all the crap of the crop from this past year in cinema at last gets its well-deserved comeuppance.
This year’s “winners” are a particularly disreputable bunch, with Kirk Cameron leading the pack for his atrocious Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas and Michael Bay reliably racking up more Golden Raspberry Awards for Transformers 4: Age of Extinction. It was a strangely good night for Ben Affleck, who took home the “Redeemer” Award for turning his career around from Gigli to Gone Girl, and a bad one for Cameron Diaz, who lost out in Worst Supporting Actress for Annie (which still, deservedly, won Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel) but received...

The 2015 Razzies "winners" have been announced, leaving the "losers" to breathe a collective sigh of relief -- because, well, who the hell wants to win a Razzie?
You see, for the past 35 years, on the eve of the Oscars, the Golden Raspberry Awards has honored the very best of the very worst movies released the previous year -- and this year's competition was nothing short of spectacular...ly tragic. Everyone -- from Razzie favorites Nicolas Cage and Michael Bay to newcomers Nicola Peltz and Gaia Weiss -- was in the crosshairs, but only 10 took home Razzies.
Here then, ladies and gentlemen, is the full list of winners from the 2015 Razzie Awards.

The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation has announced the nominations for the 35th annual Razzie Awards. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Legend of Hercules, and Transformers 4: Age of Ex-stink-Tion are leading the nominations for worst movies of the year. The only name I don't think belongs on this list of nominations is Mel Gibson for his role in The Expendables 3, because he was freakin' awesome in that!
You can check out the full announcement below, followed by the nominations list. Look it over and let us know if you agree with what they claim is the worst of 2014.
Hollywood was not happy with box office returns for 2014, their lowest-grossing year in recent history. Despite a handful of high-grossing hits, there were way more major misses — movies based on recycled premises and re-worked concepts that were already tired a decade or more ago, the cinematic equivalent of re-treaded tires.

Nominations for the 35th annual Razzie Awards, which satirize “the Worst Achievements in Film for 2014,” are out. Transformers: Age Of Extinction leads the field with seven; while Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas and The Legend Of Hercules are tied at six nods each.
As usual, the Razzie races were unveiled one day before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces its picks for the best achievements of the year in film. But are the Razzies softening at 35? A new category has been added this year for the Razzie Redeemer Award, which acknowledges “that past nominees and ‘winners’ can (and often do) go on to far far better things.” The inaugural class includes Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Kristen Stewart.

I read the synopsis of Left Behind aloud to a friend and at more or less the same moment we both said, “…so it’s The Leftovers?” I haven’t even seen that television programme, but knew enough about it that I could recognise personal hero Nic Cage’s latest vehicle to more than slightly recall the set up. For the uninitiated, the film asks what would happen to everyone else if the righteous were suddenly beamed out of our plane of existence, presumably ascended up to heaven. I understand that The Leftovers doesn’t directly address what has happened to those that vanished but in Left Behind we’re given a pretty clear indication that...

Growing Pains: Armstrong’s Re-hash of Christian Agenda Hardly Rapturous
The end of times is here again with Left Behind, heralded by the presence of Nicolas Cage as a faithless pilot, sputtering about in the continued Humpty Dumpty phase of his grimacing career. For those who don’t know, this is the first chapter in a series of books by Timothy Lahaye, the evangelical Christian author, and was initially made into a cheapie film back in 2000 starring scion of all things ‘common sensical,’ Kirk Cameron. Time and greater talents were unable to aid the material in any discernable sense, however. This latest attempt was helmed by Vic Armstrong (a stunt man whose last notable directorial feature was the 1993 Dolph Lundren film, Army of One), and it seems this type of ideological fantasy is unable to divorce itself from floundering in skimpy productions that compromise technical integrity in favor of its belabored,...

Directed by filmmaker Vic Armstrong (Thor, Amazing Spider-man, War Of The Worlds), the apocalyptic action-adventure also features Chad Michael Murray, Cassi Thomson, Nicky Whelan, Lea Thompson and Jordin Sparks.
Left Behind follows Rayford Steele (Cage) who is piloting a commercial airliner just hours after the Rapture when millions of people around the globe simply vanish. Thirty thousand feet over the Atlantic, Rayford is faced with a damaged plane, terrified passengers, and a desperate desire to get back to his family. On the ground, his daughter, Chloe Steele (Cassi Thomson) is among those left behind, forced to navigate a world of madness as she searches for her lost mother and brother.
Shot mostly in and around Baton Rouge, La., Left Behind was produced by Paul Lalonde and Michael Walker and co-written by Paul Lalonde and John Patus.

The young adult Christian book series Left Behind is being resurrected with Nicolas Cage toplining the cast. The book series is about a group of people who realize they were not taken up to heaven during The Rapture, and now must figure how to survive on Earth with all the other people who were "left behind." Kirk Cameron starred in the original movie trilogy that began in 2001. Cage is in negotiations to star, but a deal is not yet in place.
Left Behind will be the first film from Stoney Lake Entertainment whose founder Paul Lalonde cowrote the script with John Patus who wrote one of the "Left Behind" books. Vic Armstrong, best known for his work as a stunt coordinator for films like Salt and Green Hornet, and 2nd unit director (The Amazing Spider-Man, Thor) will helm.

Another day, another piece of Nicholas Cage casting news! This guy is signed on to star in so many film projects that I'm starting to think that he's got a Cage clone out there helping him out. He's currently in talks to star in a faith based action thriller called Left Behind. The movie is based on a series of books written by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, dealing with the End Times. It features a Christian eschatological viewpoint of the end of the world.
Apparently, this will also be a reboot of a film series already made that starred Kirk Cameron. I've never seen the original films or read the books, but from the research I've done on it it sounds like it will make for an interesting film series. It's easy to see Cage take on a project like this.

In 2001 the Left Behind franchise made its way to the movies starring Kirk Cameron and now Nicolas Cage is in negotiations to topline a reboot of the Christian-themed movie trilogy.
Furthermore, the project has found its director in Vic Armstrong, best known for his stunt work on Hollywood films since the 1960s.
Based on the mega-successful books written by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins, Paul Lalonde will produce the action thriller with Michael Walker, and co-write the script with John Patus, who worked on the final entry 2005s Left Behind: World at War.
Christian beliefs are again at the center of the new movie, but the story will be in the mold of a classic disaster film since the plot takes place during the first few hours after the Rapture and focuses on survivors.
Filming is expected to start in Baton Rouge, Louisiana next spring and Samuel Goldwyn Films are planning a fourth-quarter 2013 release date.

In the same week that we learned about an Ernest reboot, we've now been given an even more appropriate sign of the impending apocalypse: the Left Behind series is also getting a reboot. What's even weirder is the fact that Nicolas Cage is reportedly in talks to headline the film. (Okay... maybe that's not so weird.) Based on the popular series of Christian books by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins, the original Left Behind trilogy starred former Growing Pains heartthrob Kirk Cameron in the lead role. The story revolves around survivors left behind on Earth after The Rapture who are forced to take on the Anti-Christ. But will Cage be playing the Kirk Cameron role or the Anti-Christ? Hopefully the latter. According to Variety, the project is being set up by Paul Lalonde, former head of St. Catharines-based production company Cloud Ten Pictures. It’s easy to imagine the filmmakers of faith-based pictures like “Courageous” and “Left Behind” dismissing mainstream critics’ self-perpetuating jeer machine as “secular propaganda,” but anyone who’s read a David Mamet book or watched David O. Russell lose his mind can tell you that becoming a successful artist involves selfishly pursuing one’s goals for years on end, destroying lives and dreams in the process. These faith-based guys are just too nice to do this well. Quality be damned, Paul Lalonde and John Patus, two writers who worked on previous 'Left Behind' scripts, have written an as-yet-untitled reboot of the franchise. It’s…...

One of the earliest faith-based films on the market, Cloud Ten Pictures' $4 million-budgeted "Left Behind" starring Kirk Cameron opened theatrically in 2001 and was followed by two further movies in the series reports Heat Vision.
Based on the novel series by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, the story focused on the mythology of the End of Days and the Rapture with the first film unfolding just a few hours after the Rapture has occurred and focuses on those few people left behind on Earth.
Now, Cloud Ten is looking into a reboot of the franchise with this version sporting a budget in the $15 million range. Paul Lalonde and John Patus penned the script which opts out of the political thriller aspects of the original trilogy in favour of more conventional disaster movie aspects in an effort to reach a wider audience. A hunt for a director is now on.

The “Left Behind” films, based on the series of novels by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim Lahaye, originally surfaced in 2001 starring Kirk Cameron (of “Growing Pains”) fame, and ended with a trilogy of movies. The films were mostly low-budget affairs, with more ambition than actual resources. Still, I thought they were decent films, even if I don’t share any of the religious beliefs that the films were obviously selling. (Fyi: I am not Christian; I have never been Christian, and I will never be a Christian.) But if you were a fan of those original direct-to-dvd movies, get ready for more “Left Behind” post-apocalyptic goodness on the big screen, because writer/producer Paul Lalonde (one of the filmmakers behind the original trilogy) is back with a new version, this one geared more towards the Disaster Film genre. But, obviously, with the same religious/Christian angle. To that end, Lalonde and John Patus,...
