The opening scene of Starz’s Outlander season seven episode three shows a delivery man dropping off a chest with the name Jeremiah Alexander Ian Fraser MacKenzie emblazoned on the lid. We’re left hanging for just a moment as “The Skye Boat Song” plays, and then it’s revealed that the chest has been kept in a bank vault for 200 years.

It’s presented to Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) who, by the way, look terrific in ‘80s attire and new hairstyles. After revealing that Mandy’s doing great, Fiona Graham Buchan (Iona Claire) – who’s happy to have them back – gives them time alone to open the chest. Inside are a musket ball and scores of letters written to Brianna from Jamie and Claire.

The first letter she opens is dated April 1776, and Jamie assures her they’re alive.

Starz’s Outlander season seven episode two ended with the big house going up in flames. The teaser for episode three, “Death Be Not Proud,” shows the Frasers are alive and well, but someone in their community has died.

The promo video also provides a brief look at Brianna and Roger in their own time and reveals that Jamie has had another dream of Claire in the 20th century.

Outlander cast members and series creatives are confirmed to attend the 2023 Atx TV Festival running June 1-4 in Austin, Texas. The festival announced Outlander stars will make the trip to Texas on June 1st – “World Outlander Day” – in support of the upcoming seventh season of the popular romantic time-traveling drama. Starz has set a June 16 launch date for the new season.

Starz has set a June 16, 2023 premiere for Outlander season seven part one. The 16-episode seventh season of the popular show will be split in two, however, Starz has not revealed the launch date of the second eight-episode batch other than confirming they’ll arrive in 2024.

Starz announced today the June 16 return of its fan-favorite time-traveling drama series Outlander, confirming the upcoming seventh season will be split into two parts of eight episodes each, with the back half airing in 2024.

It was previously announced that the seventh season would be an extended 16 episodes.

What was not released previously is that Outlander Season 7 will be split, with the first eight episodes airing this summer, and the remaining eight episodes airing sometime in 2024.

Now, that's not great news, unless you look at it as an extension of the show's very life.

“Outlander” is giving fans a little more time before they have to say goodbye — and giving subscribers more of a reason to sign up for a full year instead of just a few months. Season 7 of the time-travel romance will air in two parts, Starz said on Wednesday, with the first half airing this year and the second half waiting for 2024.

Season 7, as previously announced, consists of 16 episodes, the show’s highest order count since Season 1. Like Season 1, which aired in 2014 and 2015, Season 7 will be split into two eight-episode bunches — the “Droughtlander” is officially over on June 16. “Outlander” has already been renewed for a final Season 8, which will consist of 10 episodes and presumably air in 2025 or later.

As a Valentine’s Day gift to “Outlander” fans worldwide, premium cable network Starz released the upcoming Season 7 version of the blockbuster series’ stunning opening titles sequence, this time featuring Irish songstress O’Connor crooning the show’s rousing theme song “The Skye Boat Song.”

Each season, the opening tune has been adapted to suit that season’s storylines, and has been performed by men and women, in both English and Gaelic, and at times it has featured orchestral instrumentation and even Caribbean-influenced percussion.

“We are honored,” proclaims series showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts about O’Connor lending her vocals to the iconic theme song. “Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about ‘Outlander.’ She is talented beyond measure,” he says in Starz’s media release.

Debuting on Valentine’s Day, the gorgeous video features Grammy Award winner Sinead O’Connor singing the new iteration of “The Skye Boat Song.”

The opening credits treat fans to scenes of Jamie and Claire dancing as well as a few quieter moments with the family. But war has arrived and the credits also show the American Flag waving as men engage in battle against British soldiers.

Outlander star Sam Heughan plays tour guide for a behind-the-scenes look at the Wilmington sets. “Welcome to our version of Selling Wilmington,” jokes Heughan as the nearly four-minute video begins. Heughan’s co-stars Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin point out key locations on the set, including where Bree met her real dad for the very first time.

Both Skelton and Rankin take the time to show off the cabin where their characters had their first love scene.

The set’s massive and Sam Heughan confirms it’s grown considerably over the years as they add more and more frontage. “Some of these buildings are only fronts. Others are indoor/outdoor,” explains Heughan, adding that one of his favorite new constructions is the Red Falcon that was built in season six.

“So in the middle of Scotland, we have this beautiful early American town and there’s more to come,” says Skelton.

The eighth and final season of “Outlander” has been picked up by Starz. “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” a prequel series to the well-liked drama that has been airing since 2014, has been given the official seal of approval by Starz.

The upcoming seventh season will feature 16 episodes, whereas the last season will have 10 episodes. “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” will focus on the lives and connection of Jamie Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie’s parents.

Starz delivered mixed news for fans of Outlander who are currently suffering through Droughtlander. The popular series based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling books has been renewed for season eight. Unfortunately, that eighth season will be the show’s final season.

In the one-minute video accompanying the renewal announcement, Sam Heughan notes that every good story has to come to an end. John Bell promises that the series will go out with a bang. The video also features clips from Outlander events, and Heughan and Caitriona Balfe profusely thanking the fans for being there for the series since episode one.

Season seven will consist of 16 episodes and is set to premiere this summer. Season eight will consist of 10 episodes.

The network also announced they’ve greenlit the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood with Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, and Maril Davis executive producing.

Put on your kilts and break out the bagpipes in mourning: “Outlander” is coming to an end. The hit Starz TV series has been renewed for an eighth and final season, the premium cable channel announced Thursday. The news comes ahead of Season 7 of the series, which will premiere in Summer 2023.

The news makes it unclear if the show, which is based Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical fantasy romance novels, will adapt the most recent installment, 2021’s “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” Each season of “Outlander” has thus far roughly adapted one book in the series, with the upcoming seventh season set to cover 2009’s “An Echo in the Bone” and Season 8 presumably covering 2014’s “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.” That said, Season 7 is set to have an extended 16-episode run, while Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes, so its possible that longer length can help cover all three books.

Ahead of the show’s upcoming 7th Season, Starz announced Thursday that “Outlander” has been renewed for an 8th and final season. In addition, the network has given the greenlight to the prequel series, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” which went into development last summer.

Starz has yet to announce a released date for the final season, but with Season 7 of the time travel-romantic drama scheduled to premiere this summer, chances are the story won’t end until at least 2024.

Created by Ronald D. Moore and adapted from the book series by Diana Gabaldon, “Outlander” follows Claire (Caitriona Balfe), a woman from post-World War II England transported back in time to the 1740s. Already married in the 20th century, she also falls in love with Scottish rebel Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and builds a life with him — before being sent back to her own time.

“Outlander” has been renewed for Season 8 at Starz, which will also be the show’s last. But that’s not the end of the road for Jamie Fraser’s story.

The eighth season of “Outlander” will consist of ten episodes, following an extended 16-episode Season 7, which is currently in production.

“Outlander,” Starz’s breakout sci-fi drama, is set to return in the summer of 2023 for its long-awaited seventh season, effectively ending what fans have referred to as Droughtlander.

Starz announced the news Friday morning with a brand-new teaser trailer, which you can watch below. You’re swooning, aren’t you?

If for some reason you’ve missed the “Outlander” boat, it was developed by Ronald D. Moore from the book series by Diana Gabaldon and has been on Starz for a whopping 75 episodes. Liberally mixing romance, science fiction and historical drama elements into an infectious, incredibly horny stew, it follows Caitríona Balfe as Claire Randall, who in post-World War II Scotland is magically whisked away to 1743. There, she takes up a romance with a hunky Highland warrior named Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). From there, she gets involved in the Jacobite rising, some pretty weird sex and even more time travel shenanigans.

Starz is spending next summer in Scotland. Season 7 of the channel’s smash hit series “Outlander” will premiere Summer 2023, it was announced Friday. In addition to the release period, the channel also unveiled a first look teaser for the upcoming season.

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s nine-book series of the same name, “Outlander” tells the story of Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), a nurse living in 1945 who is transported back in time to the 18th century, where she falls in love with Highland warrior Jaime Fraser (Sam Heughan). The show follows Claire and Jamie’s relationship as they navigate the real-life Jacobite rising and other historical events of the era, before more time travel shenanigans cause them to hop freely throughout history.

Starz is leaving a little gift for Outlander watchers just before Christmas.

The premium cable outlet has released the first teaser for the show’s seventh season (watch it below) and announced the series will return in summer 2023 (an actual date will be announced later). A summer premiere will mean about 15 or 16 months between seasons, as season six ended its eight-episode run on May 1.

The coming season will take the sixth and seventh books in author Diana Gabaldon’s series of novels — A Breath of Snow and Ashes and An Echo in the Bone — as its source material. The shortening of season six due to the Covid-19 pandemic means there is still material from A Breath of Snow and Ashes for the show to explore.

“Outlander” fans, buckle up because we have some exciting casting news to reveal about the upcoming seventh season. Season 6 of “Outlander” aired between March and May of this year, which made it eligible for the 2022 Emmy nominations. Unfortunately, the Starz fantasy epic was completely snubbed when the noms were announced on the morning of Tuesday, July 12. All 14 “Outlander” actors that were submitted for Emmy consideration came up empty-handed, including Caitriona Balfe (who plays time-traveling doctor Claire Randall Fraser) and Sam Heughan (who plays her Highlander true love Jamie Fraser), as did all of the show’s behind-the-scenes talent.

It’s not the first time “Outlander” fans found themselves disappointed when the series wound up not nominated by Emmy voters. In fact, the first five seasons only nabbed a grand total of four below-the-line bids: music score (2015), production design (2016) and costumes (2016 and 2018). The popular program still has yet to receive any above-the-line Emmy love for its actors, writers, directors or producers.
