The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 4 Review: Kabayan

The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 4 Review: Kabayan
Teamwork makes the dream work.

In The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 4, both Thony and Fiona and Thony and Arman showed how strong they worked together for the greater good.

When Thony learned Luca's liver was worsening and needed a transplant to live, she took matters into her own hands.

Thony and Fiona took a road trip to convince Dr. Ramtej to give them the donor's information. Those two played it smart and relaxed, knowing he'd be impassionate to their pleas.

Thony and Fiona showed that they are a total badass team and can get results. While Thony hacked into the doctor's computer, Fiona kept watch and then stalled him, pretending she had a migraine.

She looked like a real damsel in distress, and he fell for it.

They learned that Joe Fabroa (Lou Diamond Phillips) worked at a car dealership, and Fiona retook charge to get them inside.

Joe seemed

The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 2 Review: The Lion's Den

The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 2 Review: The Lion's Den
A mother's love is fierce like a lion, and she'll protect her young no matter what.

On The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 2, both Thony and Fiona were willing to do anything to protect their sons in dire situations.

Alternately, Arnan proved how fierce he was when he had to catch a gun thief in less than 24 hours. Let's enter "The Lion's Den."

The FBI approached Thony, and at first, FBI agent Garrett Miller (Oliver Hudson) pretended he was a single dad who needed help changing his infant daughter to get closer to Thony while she cleaned the restrooms.

While the idea seemed to work initially, she still wouldn't open up about why she attended Theo's funeral or if she knew Arman or his men.

Garrett: You were close enough to go to his funeral and get his daughter a gift?

Thony: Theo was a single dad. He didn’t know

‘The Cleaning Lady’ Review: Cliché Dirties Up Elodie Yung’s Confident Portrayal

‘The Cleaning Lady’ Review: Cliché Dirties Up Elodie Yung’s Confident Portrayal
The Cleaning Lady” feels like disparate parts of other series. It certainly feels like a Fox series, with its flashy editing, gritty storyline, and adoration of clubs and opulence. It also feels like numerous other “woeful immigrant” stories about the undocumented having to get into crime in order to find freedom. It’s an overused cliche, so much so that in 2018 a study by the Cato Institute and the Marshall Project showed that over one-third of TV shows situated undocumented people in the criminal lifestyle. It’s a shame because Elodie Yung, making her debut as a TV series lead, is way too good for it.

Yung plays Thony De La Rosa, an undocumented Cambodian immigrant to the U.S. trying to raise her young son. When she witnesses a crime, the only means of looking indispensable is by offering to clean up the corpse and its aftermath. The man doing the murdering,

The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 1 Review: TNT

The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 1 Review: TNT
How far will Thony go to protect her son?

The Cleaning Lady Season 1 Episode 1 explored the depths of a mother's love and how far she's willing to sink into the organized crime world to help her ailing son.

The Cleaning Lady also discussed many issues about immigration and Daca that haven't been covered recently. They even used Filipino representation throughout the storylines.

The show has shades of Freeform's Party of Five, but in reality, it's the first series that shows the decisions and dangers immigrant and undocumented single mothers struggle with.

The Cleaning Lady includes an impressive cast, including Adam Canto, Martha Millan, and Oliver Hudson. However, newcomers Elodie Yong and Sebastien, and Valentino Lasalle stole our hearts as the mother and son duo Thony and Luca De La Rosa.

She's a mother desperate to find a bone marrow match for her young son, who has a life-threatening immune disorder.

Fox's The Cleaning Lady: Grade It!

Fox's The Cleaning Lady: Grade It!
Thony De La Rosa, the woman at the center of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, is excellent with a sponge and rag — but she appears to be creating a mess of her own that all the paper towels in Las Vegas won’t wipe away.

During Monday’s series premiere of the freshman drama, which is adapted from the 2017 Argentinian series La chica que limpia, we’re introduced to Thony (Daredevil‘s Elodie Yung) and her sister-in-law Fiona (As the World Turns‘ Martha Millan), both undocumented immigrants who work on the clean-up staffs for various nightlife events in Vegas. The women also live together,

Roush Review: ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Mops Up the Melodrama

Roush Review: ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Mops Up the Melodrama
Suds flow freely in Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, a preposterous but occasionally gripping melodrama about a resourceful woman who can get the blood out of anything. A good gift to have when you find yourself mopping up one fine mess after another of a crime syndicate that could decide your future. Thony (silent “h”), passionately played by Elodie Yung, is the title character, a proud Cambodian-born doctor who’s currently toiling over toilets as an undocumented worker in Las Vegas. Back story: Thony came from the Philippines to get treatment for her dying 5-year-old son Luca, and they’ve been stuck in Sin City for months after a donor backed out and her visa expired. They live with her sister-in-law Fiona (the spirited Martha Millan), who’s been living the undocumented life for years with her adolescent kids, all living under the radar as best they can. “We need to stay invisible,
