Pioneering Danish filmmaker. Marcussen worked at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation for many years, promoting non-verbal film. Lejf Marcussen was the first European to receive the prestigious Norman McLaren Heritage Award from ASIFA-Canada. His films have been shown at countless festivals all over the world. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nordic and Baltic Animation Festival, Fredrikstad Animation Festival in 2008.
