Manager of Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds from 1972 to 1978. Team was known as the Big Red Machine and included such superstar players as Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, and Joe Morgan. Anderson guided the Reds to four World Series appearances in his tenure, winning the world championship in 1975 and 1976. Anderson was fired from the Reds after the 1978 season and moved to the TV broadcast booth for a season before being hired by the Detroit Tigers in 1980. He managed the Tigers from 1980 to 1995, winning another World Series in 1984 with Kirk Gibson, Alan Trammell, and Lance Parrish.
