Carl Laudan
Carl Laudan is a Genie-nominated independent filmmaker.

After studying film at Northwestern in Illinois and Vancouver Film School, Carl founded and presided over the King's Independent Filmmakers' Society in 1991 where he helped make short films for emerging independent filmmakers in Halifax, Nova Scotia, while he studied contemporary philosophies in University there. He directed several music videos, and moved to Toronto to continue directing and to open his own post-production service company. Under his leadership he and his colleagues were contracted to edit and provide visual effects for documentary and dramatic television, commercials, and film. Then, taking a contract to edit an independent feature in Montreal, Carl took the chance to move his company there where he met Katherine Schlemmer after filming his genie-nominated short live action comedy The Big Thing. When he was a Canadian finalist for the cast of On the Lot, he made the short film Man Depot with Kate Schlemmer starring as Euphlemlia Schmlaudmler.

Carl and Kate developed their first feature drama Sheltered Life through the Canadian Film Centre's Feature Film Project around the time Carl attended Tiff's Talent Lab. In conjunction with Violator Films Carl produced, directed, provided the visual effects, and together with Kate edited the film that made festival competitions and was licensed and broadcast on Superchannel.

As a duo, their feature comedy The Death (and Life) of Carl Naardlinger will be released in 2018.

Together they have many feature projects including: "Peachland", "Life Science", "Handiwork", and "Tiny".
