It was just under a year ago that Farmer came to fame on “Agt.” She was a sensation from the start, getting yes votes from all four judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Mel B in her audition. The latter was so impressed that she pushed her Golden Buzzer sending Farmer straight through to the live shows.

Farmer was the third ventriloquist to win “Agt” after Terry Fator in Season 2 and Paul Zerdin in Season 10. Since then,

Show Dogs review – canine caper that's as ruff as they come

This tale of talking mutts, voiced by minor celebrities, is a mirthlessly cynical cinematic chew toy

Should you require further evidence of western cultural decadence, consider the staggering hours moviemakers have logged filming dogs doing things dogs aren’t generally inclined to do: playing competitive sports, seeking Simon Cowell’s approval (Pudsey), rolling over for second billing behind long-eclipsed humanoid stars. Show Dogs hails from that good-cop-dog-cop line that once begat Turner and Hooch and K-9 – but its Usp is that the mutts now bark back with (minor) celebrity voices. If your actual dog were this lame, you’d be making ominous arrangements with the vet, not hustling everybody towards the cinema.

Celebrities Call For End To Horrific Dog And Cat Meat Trade In Indonesia

Some of the biggest names in acting, music and sports from around the world have come together to sign a letter urging President Joko Widodo of Indonesia to end the brutal slaughter of millions of dogs and cats for the meat trade.

More than 90 celebrities, including Keely & Pierce Brosnan, Cameron Diaz, Ellen DeGeneres, Simon Cowell, Kate Beckinsale, Elizabeth Hurley, Ricky Gervais, Moby, Leona Lewis, Courteney Cox, Alfie Boe, Lucy Lawless, Brian May, and Tyrese Gibson, are supporting the Dog Meat-Free Indonesia coalition after its investigation exposed horrific treatment of dogs and cats being bludgeoned and blow-torched to death in Indonesia’s gruesome markets. The Dmfi coalition comprises Animal Friends Jogja, Change for Animals Foundation, Humane Society International, Jakarta Animal Aid Network and Four Paws.

Beyond the cruelty and brutality, the trade poses a serious threat to the health and safety of Indonesian citizens, due to the spread of rabies and

Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell isn't known for being sweet, exactly, but Kelly Clarkson's powerful vocals were enough to get him to show his soft side at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. After Clarkson, who was hosting the annual award show, performed her confidence anthem "Whole Lotta Woman," Cowell was set to present the next award.

They bumped into each other on the way, and his reaction to her performance was enough to make our cold, dead hearts melt a little. "That was bloody fantastic," he said into the microphone. "What can I say? I'm very proud of you."

For those of you who somehow missed it, Cowell first met Clarkson when she auditioned for, and later won, the

From Jennifer Lopez to Kristen Chenoweth: See TheWrap’s NBC Press Day Portraits (Exclusive)

  • The Wrap
TheWrap captured shots of stars like Jennifer Lopez, Justin Hartley and Kristin Chenoweth at NBC’s summer press day earlier this month.

The event was to promote the returns of shows like “World of Dance,” “This Is Us,” “Trial and Error,” “American Ninja Warrior,” “The Wall,” and “America’s Got Talent,” as well as series that are coming to an end, like “Rise” and “Shades of Blue.”

Talent struck a pose for us after gabbing about their latest projects and NBC’s new programming.

The event came just before the network’s upfront presentation in New York City, ahead of which they announced their Fall 2018-19 slate of new and returning shows. That reveal came after NBC announced all of its cancellation, renewal and orders for the next season.

‘American Idol’ Finale: The 11 Best Moments, From Kermit the Frog to Ada Marmalade

‘American Idol’ Finale: The 11 Best Moments, From Kermit the Frog to Ada Marmalade
We laughed. We cried. We laughed some more. Thanks, Katy Perry!

The “American Idol” finale may have been a little lackluster in terms of star power, but the judge in the middle seat — when she could endure sitting in it for more than a minute — more than made up for it. Whether it was begging Bachelorette contender Becca Kufrin for her hand — and a chance to compete on the ABC show — or spinning herself silly after the revelation that Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Maddie Poppe are now a couple, or mock fawning over hottie Trevor Holmes, who showed up again

Simon Cowell Wants His 4-Year-Old Son Eric to Take Over the Business When He Grows Up

Known for his stern exterior and withering critiques on America's Got Talent, Simon Cowell seems to have at least one soft spot: his four-year-old son, Eric, who Simon hopes will have a role in the family business when he grows up. But Eric Cowell better not have any ideas later on that he can just take this job for granted. He's going to have to earn it. But that shouldn't surprise anyone who knows Simon! “I would do with him what my dad did. I would have him start as an intern, learn the job,” Simon, who is the executive producer and judge of Agt, told Extra. “But the idea that one day he could be doing this or something similar, I would love that.” (Photo Credit: NBC) Simon even said that he gets motivation from anticipating Eric's future takeovers. “I actually think it’s probably the best incentive I

Kelly Clarkson and Simon Cowell Reunite at the 2018 BBMAs
Kelly Clarkson and Simon Cowell go way back. After performing the song "Whole Lotta Woman" at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday, the host had a spontaneous reunion with Simon Cowell. The moment came 16 years after he discovered Clarkson's talents and fans named her the first American Idol winner. Cowell appeared onstage to introduce Camilla Cabello and Pharrell Williams' joint acts—but before he could do that, Clarkson ran over to him and gave him a big hug. "That was bloody fantastic. Psst! Heidi Klum (‘America’s Got Talent’) knows the secret of why ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer ‘resonated with so many kids’
When we recently sat down with “America’s Got Talent” judge Heidi Klum to talk about the upcoming season, we just had to ask her about last year’s winner, 12-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer. Throughout Season 12 everything Farmer did went insanely viral, from her initial audition with rabbit puppet Petunia to serenading Simon Cowell with naughty puppet Edna. So what was Farmer’s secret? “What is amazing with Darci is she was a very shy girl before,” Klum tells us (watch above). “She didn’t really have a lot of friends, so she made her own friends and that’s why she became a ventriloquist. I think that’s why she resonated with so many kids out there who have the same issue. It really helps a lot of other kids.”

Steven Tyler was urged to come across as a mean judge by producers on American Idol, the iconic singer has claimed. 5 Takeaways From NBCUniversal’s Upfront

NBCUniversal kicked off the broadcast week of upfronts Monday with its presentation at Radio City Music Hall. Here are the five key takeaways:

1. Facebook is worth kicking.

It didn’t take NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke long to get his first veiled dig at Facebook in during his address at the top of the show.

“Digital companies are being accused of invasion of people’s privacy, accused of false measurement,” Burke said. He didn’t call out the social-media giant by name, but he might as well have. At the other end of the Facebook-diss spectrum was a video featuring ad-sales

NBC Upfront: 9 Takeaways From Big Radio City Music Hall Sales Pitch

The 2018 broadcast upfronts are officially upon us, and NBC just wrapped its big Radio City Music Hall sales pitch to potential advertisers. There was a little something for everyone — especially if you’re between the ages of 18 and 49.

NBCUniversal began its annual event with a star-studded musical parody. Unfortunately, not everybody (TheWrap included) got to see it from never-ending line down 50th Street. More on that in a bit.

The suite of networks spent the next 120 minutes or so showing off new series like “Abby’s” (pictured above) “New Amsterdam,” “The Titan Games,” “Deadly Class,” “Treadstone,” and “Very Cavallari,” to name just a handful.

Read on below for 9 things we observed from the beginning of a very long week in New York City.
