David Velo Stewart graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in African American studies with a concentration in film. He interned at Darden Visual Communications and completed the Beginning Film Production class at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

In January 2000, Stewart founded Velocity Productions Ltd. This small entertainment company specializes in producing feature films, music videos and viral web content. Velocity Productions also owns the websites Hiphopbattle.com and Trillvision.com. Hiphopbattle.com is an urban media website and Trillvision.com is an urban content site that specializes in sketch comedy and web series.

In 2001, Stewart completed the narrative feature film Hiphopbattle.com: HipHop for Life, which premiered at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has been screened at the Sundance Film Festival (2002) and Acapulco Black Film Festival (2001). Stewart followed the success of Hip-Hop 4 Life with a city vs. city mc battle documentary series. This fifth and final installment, Hip Hop Life (2007) can be found on Netflix, iTunes and Blockbuster stores world wide.

Presently, Stewart is working on the comedic web series Sex Love and Lies and is in post-production for his horror film, The Doomsloop.
