‘Last Stop’ DVD Review (101 Films)

Stars: Mena Suvari, Brian Austin Green, Joanne Kelly, Robert Picardo, Fiona Gubelmann, Zack Ward, David de Lautour, Leif Gantvoort, Curtiss Frisle | Written and Directed by Travis Oates

Ten people arrive at a secluded mountain resort to find it completely deserted. With no gas for the return trip, the visitors are forced to stay and investigate the mystery surrounding the abandoned lodge. As their friends start disappearing for no apparent reason, tensions grow as the survivors try to figure out what is gong on, without disappearing themselves.

If there is one thing I have learned from watching horror films over the years, is that going to a secluded lodge which is ‘miles from anywhere’ may seem like a fantastic idea but it Never is. If you are low on fuel by the time you get there, you might as well just lie down on the floor and wait for the inevitable.

Don’t Blink (2014)

Written by: Travis Oates

Directed by: Travis Oates

Cast: Mena Suvari (Tracy), Brian Austin Green (Jack), Zack Ward (Alex), Joanne Kelley (Claire), Robert Picardo (Man in Black), Fionna Gubelmann (Ella), David de Lautour (Noah), Leif Gantvoort (Sam), Emilie O’Hara (Amelia)

After all of the horror that I’ve taken in all these years, I don’t think that I could even begin to feel peaceful at a secluded cabin with a bunch of friends in tow. The adage “safety in numbers” seems to never, ever apply with recreational cohabitation in the wilderness. I’m not sure why, but it just happens to be a well documented fact in horror cinema. Slasher or supernatural, something that starts with an “s” is just going make methodical work of disposing of everyone. The previously mentioned cabin set up just happens to be the

Review: Don’T Blink

Ensemble films can be quite the tricky endeavor, especially for a first time director. Making sure one person has their performances dialed can be a pain in the ass, but a whole group of people?, That can be murder. Luckily, in the case of Travis Oates and his feature debut, Don’T Blink, the ensemble not only shines, but gives viewers one hell of a time while doing so.

Focusing on a group of ten friends heading to a secluded resort for a weekend getaway, Don’T Blink doesn’t waste any time in letting audiences get to know it’s characters. Jack and Tracy (Chromeskull: Laid To Rest‘s Brian Austin Green and American Pie‘s Mena Suvari), a happy couple on the verge of the next step in a relationship leads the group, filled with couples Sam and Charlotte (The Amazing Spiderman‘s Leif Gantvoort and First Winter

Ten Little Indians Gets New Spin In Don’T Blink Trailer; Mena Suvari, Zack Ward, Brian Austin Green Lead Cast

Don’T Blink Poster

There’s something easy to latch onto with films that take the Agatha Christie written “And Then There Were None” (or Ten Little Indians) and give it a brand new spin. I happen to love films that fall into that category, as it’s always a lot of fun to watch a film based on a group of character getting picked off, one by one, and trying to solve the mystery of who’s doing it and why. It’s a gamble with each one though, for every Identity, there’s a Mindhunters, so like every film, you take your chances.

The Travis Oates-helmed Don’T Blink (hitting VOD September 18th) looks like another take at the classic story, and judging from the trailer, it looks like it could be a lot of fun. Filled with characters played Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Brian Austin Green (Chromeskull: Laid To Rest II,

Beauty and the Beast: Jay Ryan on Battling Beasts, Dancing with Cat and More!

  • TVfanatic
While the romance between Vincent and Catherine continues to be tested on Beauty and the Beast - by little things such as memory loss and beastly manipulations - watch for the twosome to take to the dance floor tonight.

Yes, Vincent and Cat will dance.

You’ll have to tune in for “Liar, Liar,” to know the full context of why they trip the light fantastic, but I have a feeling my fellow Beasties will love it no matter what.

I sat down with Jay Ryan last week in New York City to talk about this installment, along with what the changes in Vincent mean this season and how he ends up moving and grooving opposite his love interest. (To hear how Ryan is taking to being a dad in real life, check out my recent Notebook post). Scroll down for excerpts from this exclusive Q&A...

‘Touch’ Series Premiere Review: Cool Theories & Points of Nerdy Intrigue Fizzle Out too Soon

“The ratio is always the same.”

If you’re a science junkie like myself, then the opening sequence to Touch will quickly grab your attention. Jake Bohm (David Mazouz) narrates to a montage of images of the world, while giving a cursory introduction to chaos theory, probability, the red thread of fate and the Golden Ratio. Although Jake doesn’t go in to depth on any of these subjects, he makes you wonder how these four things will intertwine in Fox’s new show Touch.

It’s enough to pique your interest and possibly make you say, “Ooo, I wonder what this is about.”

Creator Tim Kring, the man behind Heroes, loves shows that deal with connections. In the first season of Heroes, everyone who had powers was somehow connected. In the opening moments of Touch, Jake states that he is the kid in charge of keeping track of the

Touch (2011) TV Show Trailer: Kiefer Sutherland, Danny Glover

Touch TV Show Trailer. Francis Lawrence‘s Touch (2011) TV Show Trailer stars Kiefer Sutherland, Danny Glover, David Mazouz, Karen David, and Philip Shahbaz. Touch‘s plot synopsis: “Centers on a father who discovers his autistic, mute son can actually predict events before they happen.”

When I saw this I immediately thought of Knowing, The Mothman Prophecies, and the book Simple Simon. Knowing drowned itself by its third act, The Mothman Prophecies was surprising good, with a mix of the supernatural and thriller and Simple Simon was made into an average Bruce Willis film. Touch seems more action based with Kiefer Sutherland’s Martin Bohm going out on missions his son assigns him through his gift (watch the TV trailer, you’ll see).

Some believe this show has a few hurtles to overcome and I have to agree. Here are a few:

First, being as it’s on Fox and stars Kiefer Sutherland,
