Mini Bio (1)

Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Mark Baranowski spent most of his young life with his grandparents (due to his parents' divorce when he was still a toddler, and a poor relationship with both, thereafter). Mark's first creative interest was drawing, then music. He began writing songs (rap, mostly) and poetry as he entered high school, and released a handful of works during the 1990s. He and a close friend established Nickel City Records in 1997, in honor of their hometown, Buffalo (the 'nickel city'). Mark began writing screenplays in late 1999, and self-published both a novella and a collection of poetry in early 2001. He still continues to make music, but does so more as a hobby, now. His current focuses are sketching charcoal portraits and writing/directing.

Met his wife, Ryli Morgan, online in 1999, via her AOL personals profile.
Took French class throughout middle school.
Received an Administrative Management Society Award for 1991-92, his Senior year of high school.
Began working as a locksmith in 1992, shortly after graduating from Bennett High School in Buffalo, NY.
Much of his 2011 film, "Hardly Beloved," re-enacts unpleasant situations from Mark's actual childhood.
Was raised Catholic, and once old enough, became an altar boy for St. Rose of Lima Church (Buffalo, NY), located one city block from his house.
An avid music and movie collector since the mid-1980's, he owns literally thousands of CDs and DVDs.
A great admirer of Jean-Claude Van Damme since 1990, when Mark was first introduced to the actor's work via a screening of "Death Warrant". Has a tattoo of Van Damme from this film on his upper left arm.
Heavily influenced by the work of Michael Mann, especially the film "Heat" and the TV show "Miami Vice". Mark considers himself one of the world's biggest fans of the latter, yet he despised the 2006 film version.

Has loved to draw ever since he could hold a pencil. Now specializes in charcoal pencil drawings.

Hosted the Charlotte, NC premiere screening of "Heaven Help Me, I'm In Love" at the Visulite Theatre in 2005, alongside his wife and co-star, Ryli Morgan.
Has never been a fan of sports, although his mother and stepfather insisted he play baseball and football in neighborhood leagues as a child.
