Jeanne Basone is an American professional wrestler, actress, model and stunt woman best known by her ring name Hollywood in the women's wrestling promotion Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, founded by David McLane.[1] She appeared as an on-screen character during the promotion's four seasons, and pilot where she competed under the ring name Hollywood. Hollywood was the first GLOW girl hired. She frequently worked as the tag team partner of Vine (portrayed by Janet Bowers) from 1986 to 1988, then Vine quit GLOW and Broadway Rose replaced Vine as Hollywood's tag team partner.
After the cancellation of GLOW in 1989, Jeanne continued to compete on the independent circuit as Hollywood. She appeared in several all-female wrestling promotions, including NWA, Beauty Slammers, CRUSH and Hottest Ladies of Wrestling.[2]
Basone appeared in numerous television series and films as an actress and stunt woman, including JAG, Days of Our Lives, Chuck, Married... with Children, Saved by the Bell, The Larry Sanders Show, In Living Color, and Nicole Kidman's upcoming thriller movie Holland, Michigan[1]
With the popularity of You tube, the show and her work have continued to grow a huge cult following.
In 1994 Jeanne starred in a 3DO interactive multiplayer video game "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties" playing the ever popular Jane which to date has had over 9.5 million views. Look for her in the revamp of this huge cult game. Available on Nintendo Switch and Play Station 5 and appearing at several comic cons.
December 1989 Jeanne posed in her very first Playboy Magazine pictorial entitled " Lethal women" along with two other GLOW girls.
Netflix and the executive producers of "Orange is the New Black" filmed 3 seasons of the Emmy award winning show "GLOW" based on the documentary "GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling" in which she starred. The documentary went on to receive several awards including Best Documentary at the San Diego Comic Con, 2012.
As one of the most sought after spokespersons of the "Original GLOW Girls", she continues to be recognized for her achievements in preserving the GLOW brand.
Jeanne enjoys giving back to the wrestling community and attends many Wrestling Conventions and Comicon's through the USA and Europe.
Jeanne is the CEO of her Artisan Soap Company, NashvilleBotanika. Jeanne is an Ambassador for the C B D company Aces Joint Repair.
Residing in Burbank, California, and Nashville TN Jeanne enjoys traveling around the United States and Europe in search of inspirational cultures. Look for Jeanne's autobiography Hooray For Hollywood The True Story Of The Original Glow Girl to be out in Summer 2024
