Luis (Lou) Ferrer is an award-winning writer/director with scripts optioned by Oscar-winning director, Spike Lee, and Netflix, among others.
His feature directorial debut, MIA, which is slated for worldwide release in July of 2025, premiered at the 2025 New York Cinefest, earning nominations for Best Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, and a win for Best Director. And his feature script, "Motherland," is in development with Jan Phillipp Weyl, director of the International Oscar entry "Running Against The Wind."
Ferrer studied writing, directing, and producing at the American Film Institute and at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where he also taught and penned several scripts under the tutelage of Spike Lee and Oscar-nominated writer, Alec Sokolow ("Toy Story").
Luis Ferrer is a former HBO and NBC executive and a decorated combat veteran of the war in Afghanistan where he served with the Army's 35th Infantry Regiment, Recon Scout/Sniper Platoon.
He lives in both New York and California with his wife Eden and five-year-old son, Jack.
