Prince William Arthur Philip Louis was born on June 21, 1982 to Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Prince and Princess of Wales. At his birth he became and is still second in line to the throne of the United Kingdom, after his father. His early life was spent living in London in Kensington Palace. When he was four and a half he started nursery school at the Mrs. Maynard Acadamy. Aged eight, he went to Wetherby School, then to a boarding school called Ludgrove which is about 25 miles from London. When he was 10 his parents separated and they divorced when he was 14. Aged 13, he started at Eton College, an all boys school near Windsor, in Berkshire, and close to Windsor Castle, the home of his grandmother. On August 31, 1997 William was woken up with the news that his mother had died in a car crash in Paris. Since her death he has been very protective of his younger brother, Harry, now a cadet at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Prince William is due to join him in 2006, having graduated from the University of St Andrews with an Upper Second Class Degree in History of Art. If his father accedes to the throne, he is likely to become His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. If William becomes King, it is not known what title he might take, but it is likely to be William V.

Personal Quotes (8)

(about becoming King) I am worried about it, but I don't really think about it too much because there's no point in worrying about things which are not really present yet. It's not that I never want to do it, it's just that I'm reluctant at such a young age to throw myself in at the deep end.
[why he gave Catherine Duchess of Cambridge his mother's engagement ring] She (Princess Diana) can't share in any of the fun and excitement of it all. This was my way of keeping her close to it.

She (Diana) understood more than any other Royal that the press can be wooed over if you know how.
The last thing I want to do is be mollycoddled or wrapped up in cotton wool, because if I was to join the Army, I would want to go where my men went, and I'd want to do what they did. I would not want to be kept back for being precious, or whatever-that's the last thing I would want.
I'm very much the person who doesn't want to rush into anything without really thinking it through. I don't shy away from doing particular events but I do like to go to the ones that I really feel passionately about.
[on baby Prince George Alexander Louis' hair, August 2013] He's got way more than me. Thank God.
I like the challenge...It's more responsibility looking after two little ones, especially when George is around, as he's a little monkey.
