Daeil Kim, a Korean-American filmmaker, was born in Seoul, South Korea. He moved to the United States at 20 to pursue his passion for filmmaking, which stems from his love for writing and the intricate art of cinematography. Kim co-founded Xylograph Films, a production company in New York, in 2018. They have produced award-winning short films, music videos for artists like Two Friends and Bryce Vine. Red Bull recently hired them to produce a short film, which will be distributed through Reb Bull TV. At 24, Kim created his first feature film, "White Demise," which was distributed by Gravitas Ventures in 2021. His short film, "Re-rehab," was selected for the 2019 Toronto Shorts Int. Film Festival and is available on Amazon Prime Video. His latest short film, "Seven Minutes," will premiere at the 2023 LA Shorts Int. Film Festival and was screened at John M. Chu's USC Asian Pacific Film Fest. During his time in the USC MFA Film & TV Production Program as an Annenberg fellow (full-ride scholarship) and James Bridges and Jack Larson directing scholarship recipient, Kim was selected to direct the final episode of a TV series, which its previous series won a Student EMMY. He is also a recipient of the Sony Future of Cinematography Program, which provides meetings/seminars with industry professionals, camera/production support for his future films. Kim has several feature length screenplays in development and is gaining support for their production.
