Jörg-Otto Spiller
1961 Abitur at the French High School in Berlin. 1961 to 1966 studied history and political science at the Free University of Berlin and the universities of Tübingen and Paris, received a diploma from the Otto Suhr Institute at the Free University of Berlin.
1966 to 1973 tutor and research assistant at the Otto Suhr Institute, political economics department, 1974 to 1985 worked in the economics department of Berliner Bank AG.

Member of the SPD since 1964. 1981 to 1985 member of the Berlin House of Representatives. 1986 to 1994 district mayor of Berlin-Wedding.
Member of the Bundestag since 1994; Since June 1999, financial policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group.
