Box Office: ‘A Quiet Place’ Topping Amy Schumer’s ‘I Feel Pretty’
John Krasinski’s horror-thriller “A Quiet Place” is heading for a domestic box office victory with about $20 million, topping Amy Schumer’s comedy “I Feel Pretty” and Dwayne Johnson’s “Rampage,” early estimates showed Friday.

Fox’s launch of fan-funded “Super Troopers 2” could nearly double recent forecasts, and is set to finish in fourth place with about $11 million at 2,038 location, including $1.4 million from previews. Lionsgate’s opening of “Traffik” is heading for a moderate debut of $4 million at 1,046 venues.

Paramount’s third weekend of “A Quiet Place” should win what will be a quiet weekend as the horror-thriller continues to draw surprisingly well. The tale of a family under attack in a remote forest has grossed a healthy $111 million in North America in less than two weeks, including a stunning $50 million opening on April 6-8.

STXfilms’ “I Feel Pretty” is poised to take in about $17 million at 3,440 locations this

BossLogic at it Again with Fantastic Four Cast Fan Art

BossLogic is at it again and has brought forth these stunning representations of what certain actors might look like placed into roles that could be awesome for them. This Fantastic Four fan art is something that you can help but hope would be a prelude to seeing a movie about the famed foursome that might actually be worth talking about this time. Reed Richards played by John Krasinski would be perfect since Reed was always kind of an academic but not much of a fighter. But in the comics he was still just as buff as everyone else, as John

‘A Quiet Place’: How John Krasinski’s Horror Blockbuster Got its Badass Creature

‘A Quiet Place’: How John Krasinski’s Horror Blockbuster Got its Badass Creature
Designing the blind, shrieking creature for “A Quiet Place” was hard enough for Industrial Light & Magic. (Spoilers Ahead.) But when the first pass wasn’t scary enough for director John Krasinski and producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (of Platinum Dunes), the VFX studio had to start all over with less than a month to deliver the goods. They obviously succeeded, with the acclaimed horror blockbuster reaching $102 million and counting.

“We looked at a lot of new ideas and came up with a combination of teeth with no eyes,” said Scott Farrar, Ilm’s visual effects supervisor (the “Transformers” franchise). “That was scarier. John had his own ideas about weird fish with shells that looked like hard stone and having them run like bats with their wings folded.”

A Quiet Place's Noah Jupe Will Play a Young Shia Labeouf in Honey Boy

Casting someone to play you in the movie of your life isn't an opportunity that comes around every day, but fortunately it seems like Shia Labeouf made the perfect choice. The 31-year-old actor has chosen Noah Jupe, one of the young breakout stars of John Krasinski's horror masterpiece, A Quiet Place, to play him as a kid in his upcoming indie, Honey Boy.

Labeouf served as a cowriter for the script, which he penned under the pseudonym Otis Lort. It's based on the true story of Labeouf's childhood and rocky relationship with his father, Jeffrey, throughout two different stages of his life (Labeouf will be playing his own father in both). Lady Bird's Lucas Hedges is also on board to play a teenage Labeouf in Honey Boy, which was titled for the nickname Labeouf was given by his father as a child.

Although the Transformers star shot to fame early,

The Preview Reel: I Feel Pretty and Super Troopers 2

Welcome to this week’s “Preview Reel” column, wherein we look at the week’s upcoming wide-release movies. Rampage and A Quiet Place were neck and neck at the box office last weekend, but it was the Dwayne Johnson blockbuster that got the best of John Krasinski’s horror sensation. Those two will likely continue doing great business until Avengers: Infinity War debuts next week as this week’s slate is looking a little weak. Neither Amy Schumer’s I Feel Pretty or the stoner comedy sequel Super Troopers 2 will make a ton of noise at the box office, but let’s see if either are worth your time and money.

I Feel Pretty

What we are excited about: Amy Schumer has lost some of her star power over the last few years, but that doesn’t mean she’s not funny anymore. There’s a reason she became

You never know where you’ll find an opportunity to land an audition! “Life on Mars” Horror projects in 2017 shook up the genre, and that trend continues in 2018. Mel Gibson’s ‘Boss Level’ Lands at Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios

Mel Gibson’s ‘Boss Level’ Lands at Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios
Byron Allen’s growing independent outfit Entertainment Studios picked up U.S. distribution rights for action-thiller “Boss Level.”

The film, starring Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts, Frank Grillo and Ken Jeong, cost $45 million and is slated for a 2019 wide theatrical release.

Boss Level” is a co-production by Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films, Di Bonaventura Pictures, Carnahan and Grillo’s War Party, and Scott Free. Written and directed by “The Grey” and “The A-Team” director Joe Carnahan, “Boss Level” has a “Groundhog Day,” “Edge of Tomorrow” vibe.

The film follows a retired U.S. Army Special Forces veteran (Grillo) trapped in a never-ending loop, resulting in his death every day. In order to stop his endless suffering, he must figure out who is responsible and stop them.

“‘Boss Level’ is a powerful, action-packed, and highly-anticipated theatrical release,” Allen, head of Entertainment Studios said in a statement. “‘Boss Level’ combines non-stop action with an all-star cast, including Frank Grillo, Ken Jeong, Academy Award-winner Mel Gibson, and Academy Award-nominee Naomi Watts. We are thrilled to have director Joe Carnahan at the helm to deliver what we believe will be a blockbuster.”

Allen’s Entertainment Studios has made some noise in Hollywood, picking up theatrical rights to films other studios would otherwise relegate straight to DVD.

The studio bought what would go on to be 2017’s highest-grossing independent movie, “47 Meters Down,” from the Weinstein Co. The film, starring Mandy Moore has grossed over $44 million to date. Most recently Entertainment Studios released the Kennedy mystery-thriller “Chappaquiddick.”

“Byron and I have been friends for over a decade, and my business partner, George Furla, has known Byron for over 30 years since their USC Film School days. We both believe Byron’s passion and taste are second to none,” producer Randall Emmett said in a statement. “The plan for Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures to give ‘Boss Level’ a wide theatrical release gives our film and writer/director Joe Carnahan’s vision exactly what we had hoped for when we put this project together.”

The deal was negotiated by Entertainment Studios’ Head of Acquisitions, Chris Charalambous, and Wayne Marc Godfrey of The Fyzz Facility on behalf of Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films.

Did 'A Quiet Place' Take Enough Risks?

Did 'A Quiet Place' Take Enough Risks?
[This story contains spoilers for A Quiet Place]

The following is a conversation about A Quiet Place, the financially and critically successful horror film about a near-future dystopia where a nuclear family (father, daughter, son and pregnant mother) must remain as silent as possible — or else be found and murdered by giant blind monsters. The film's success was unexpected given a number of factors, including the unlikely pairing of star/co-writer/director John Krasinski (The Office, Away We Go) and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production studio (Friday the 13th, The Purge). But one of the surest reasons for the film's success is its central...

The comedy Blockers dropped two spots this week, from third to fifth, earning $10.3 million (raising its two-week total to $36.9 million).
