Goosebumps 2 Teaser Announces the Official Title

Goosebumps 2 has finally been given an official title, as revealed by the first teaser for the upcoming sequel. Sony recently brought a presentation for the movie to Cinemacon, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas. Film Review: ‘Status Update’

Film Review: ‘Status Update’
Over 90 minutes pass before any character utters anything remotely sensible in “Status Update,” as the protagonist’s no-nonsense mother counsels him to stop worrying about social media: “It’s everybody’s highlight reel of what they want you to see: bulls—t with a filter on it to make it look pretty.” Those words might ring truer in a less antiseptic and artificial context than Scott Speer’s tapioca-bland high school comedy, in which the notionally modern high concept of a magic cellphone app — one that instantly makes our hero’s every status update come true — merely facilitates an age-old “careful what you wish for” fable, in which familiar lessons about staying true to yourself and your friends are learned. Landing in U.S. theaters just a week after Speer’s similarly teen-targeted “Midnight Sun,” this plastic, “Glee”-inflected throwaway will thereafter make a swift transfer to VOD — if ever

Casting Update for Goosebumps Sequel

In addition to a wide range of monsters and a stellar young cast, one of the big reasons for the success of the 2015 Goosebumps film was its adult cast—including Jack Black, Amy Ryan, and Jillian Bell—that delivered some of the funniest moments of the entire movie. Following the casting of four talented child actors, the Goosebumps sequel is looking to replicate the formula that worked in the first movie by assembling a group of adult actors with comedic chops.

Variety reports that Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ken Jeong, and Chris Parnell have joined the cast of the Goosebumps sequel. The trio of comedic actors join a cast that already includes Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Ben O’Brien (Manchester by the Sea), Caleel Harris (Castle Rock), and Jeremy Ray Taylor (2017's It).

Director Ari Sandel is currently set to direct the sequel to Rob Letterman's Goosebumps, which starred Jack Black as Stine.
