- T.E. Lawrence, Seven Pillars of Wisdom: A Triumph
"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible."
Serge Fiankan has dedicated his professional life to the task of empowering the people of Africa, the continent of his homeland, developing programs that inject investment and hope into a people and a land that has seen so much pain, victimization and trauma. The central figure in the screenplay that he has is an African Queen, and her story of dealing with trauma and overcoming adversity to become a great leader parallels the story that Serge is helping to create in reality for the African continent, to make Africa a world leader.
He was literally born into the world and realities of African politics. Born in the Ivory Coast of Africa and raised in the Congo, he is the son of an African diplomat who served for decades as an Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Thus, Serge has an intimate knowledge of the African environs in which the screenplay is set - its geography, its politics, and its people. By the time Serge came to the U.S., he already knew at least one thing about Hollywood - that Hollywood's portrayal of Africans and their history had little resemblance to reality. He had a burning desire to change that image. Ultimately, he wanted Africans to have a better image of themselves - and of their capabilities and potential.
After graduating from San Francisco State University with a degree in Broadcast Telecommunications, Serge worked in the entertainment industry, for nearly a decade helping produce TV commercials. He came to realize, however, that the message he wanted to create was not to be found in Hollywood. It didn't reflect the diversity of thought and meaning that he craved to promote. So Serge decided to become an independent entrepreneur. He created several business ventures through the years, honing his skills in gaining investors, making proposals, and developing real estate. His focus on bettering human beings and the environment, he founded the Akwaba Group in 2004, consulting to energy companies seeking to establish green energy in Africa. He also became a venture capitalist in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals and worked with bio-pharmaceutical companies and NGO's in support of the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program to make antiretroviral drugs available for developing countries.
In 2008, Serge established Akwaba Real Estate, an Akwaba Group offshoot. Through Akwaba, a dream of Serge is being fulfilled, implementing his ideas for creating the world's first green city, to be established in Angola, Africa. It is a 1-million-home project designed to take people out of poverty and make housing affordable, creating self-sustaining homes in a community with no cars and free of pollution, while inviting international investment in the country's natural resources, with strict mining requirements that preserve the fragile environment. Ultimately, Serge's dream is to create a viable African Middle Class.
Serge is directly involved in projects to empower the African people, helping create programs endorsed by governments and supported by foreign investors. His screenplay, which presents a positive, realistic picture of an African Queen, is also an inspiring story of what Africa was... and what it can become.
Serge discovered his passion for horses and started riding and competing in show jumping in his teens while still in Africa. He furthered his riding skills in Germany with a former Norwegian Olympic jumping team coach, Dirk Schroeder. He continued owning horses and showing when he moved to the US. He is an all-around passionate horseman who enjoys caring for horses, training and breeding them, and guiding others in the horse world.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Myriam Chaouki
