Alexis Bicât was born in London, England. He is of Chechen, Russian, French, English and Irish descent.
Alexis Bicât got his start performing professionally at a young age at Chipping Norton Theatre with title roles in Aladdin, Robin Hood and Ernie's Incredible Hallucinations leading to bit parts in Christmas Present (1985) and Inappropriate Behaviour (1987).
Originally a kit drummer Alexis Bicât was classically trained on the trumpet, rose to principal trumpet in the Oxford County Orchestra and won numerous contests playing cornet for Chipping Norton Silver Band. Despite being offered the drummer's job in popular band Ride he instead left the Cotswolds craving the responsibility of film directing.
In London Alexis Bicât directed the Raindance Film Festival, co-directed the third largest film market in the world the London Screenings, composed music for Fox Children's Productions and made two critically acclaimed award-winning theatrically released short films Noise Control (2003) and To Catch a Crow (2000). Despite the early industry success as a director/producer he left London for California to learn how to write.
Slogging at the art of screenwriting whilst living between a tent on the side of a mountain in Big Sur and a home in the Hollywood Hills, Alexis Bicât worked as a bartender, carpenter, and volunteer firefighter and was accepted into an indigenous American community in the mountains of Ventura County.
On his return to the UK his heist movie was immediately snapped up by producers Barry Hanson (The Long Good Friday (1980)) and Michael Wearing (Edge of Darkness (1985)). Sadly, both Barry and Michael passed away before they could finish financing the film and Alexis Bicât left the industry to train as a mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR(TM)) facilitator under Jon Kabat-Zinn and complete a Master's in psychology (MBPsS) at the University of Highlands and Islands.
Returning to the world of film Alexis Bicât now has five feature length projects and one TV show in development.
Alexis Bicât studied a masters degree in Fiction Direction under N.G. Bristow at Goldsmiths University of London.
