Mark Grenside has been involved in media for over 30 years and nearly every aspect of it.
He started his working career in 1976 in Kidnap and Ransom and Political Risk Insurance at Lloyds of London. However, in 1980 he took a chance at moving into media becoming one of the original team of (Jim) Henson International Television, creators of The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. This followed with the formation of Crossbow Films. He acted as producer/ executive producer for three seasons of 72 live action episodes and a movie on Swiss hero William Tell. The series Crossbow (1987) played in over 100 countries including the USA. Next, he produced Chillers (1990), 12 One-hour standalone stories from master thriller writer Patricia Highsmith with an International star-studded cast including Anthony Perkins, Ian Holm, Edward Fox, Ian McShane and Marisa Berenson. He also formed Crossbow Talent, a music talent agency that signed a number of recording artists including multi-million seller Neneh Cherry. In 1990's he formed Homescreen Entertainment which produced the series Dracula: The Series (1990). By 2000 he had become an original member of the Hallmark Channel successfully rolling the channel out worldwide to include Sky in the UK and other major platforms. In 2004 he formed a group, Sparrowhawk Media that raised US $250m to buy Hallmark International the Hallmark Channel and Library (ex-USA) that was successfully sold a few years later to NBC. In 2010 he started MNG Films with a slate of nearly US$80m of television production for SKY, NBC Universal and The Hallmark Channel. This included major miniseries Treasure Island (2012) with Eddie Izzard, Donald Sutherland and Elijah Wood and Neverland (2011) with Rhys Ifans, Anna Friel, Bob Hoskins, Charles Dance and Keira Knightley. In addition, he has a number of equity investments in digital media, writes a monthly blog read in over 40 countries, and now lives with his wife in Malta. His first book Fall Out, set in the world of Hollywood and the film business become an acclaimed thriller in 2020. The follow up books in this franchise, The Bastion was completed in 2023 with Sunset Circus in 2024 and Sympathy for the Devil in 2025.
