Drummer for pioneering heavy metal band Black Sabbath
Quit Black Sabbath in 1980, then briefly rejoined in 1983 before quitting again in 1984. Did not rejoin again until the entire original lineup reunited in late 1997.
the Black Sabbath song "N.I.B." from their debut self titled album, which has the lyrics "My name is Lucifer please take my hand", was always thought, by certain fans, to have stood for something 'sinister' (example: "Nativity In Black" was a theory) and yet the song's title simply refered to Bill Ward's goatee that the other band members referred to as a "nib"
