Blumhouse Exec Confirms Halloween Will Be R-Rated

Throughout the last twelve months or so, Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind horror franchises such as Ouija and The Purge, has quietly garnered a sterling reputation at the box office. The Jason Blum-founded company oversaw projects like the James McAvoy-led Split and the fourth installment in James Wan’s Insidious series, The Last Key, both of which turned massive profits on minimal budgets.

The studio’s crowning achievement, however, didn’t arrive until recently, when Jordan Peele’s mammoth success, Get Out, pocketed four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Daniel Kaluuya), and Best Original Screenplay, despite only being victorious in the latter.

Hoping to keep the momentum going now, this October will see Blumhouse Productions release the much-anticipated sequel to John Carpenter’s distinguished horror classic, Halloween. The reimagining will apparently disregard each subsequent entry into the horror series, proceeding Carpenter’s original 1978 film,

John Carpenter Will Compose the Score for the New ‘Halloween,’ Jason Blum Confirms

John Carpenter Will Compose the Score for the New ‘Halloween,’ Jason Blum Confirms
Just because John Carpenter isn’t directing the newest “Halloween” movie doesn’t mean he won’t be involved. Producer Jason Blum has confirmed that Carpenter, who composed the music for the original 1978 slasher in addition to co-writing and directing it, will return to the franchise with a simple tweet.

Carpenter has composed the music for many of his own films: “Dark Star,” “Escape From New York,” “They Live,” “The Fog,” “Christine,” and so on and so forth. This new “Halloween,” which is being directed by David Gordon Green, will be his first film score since 2001’s “Ghosts of Mars.” It’s also the first “Halloween” movie in nearly a decade, following Rob Zombie’s 2007 remake and its 2009 sequel.

Green, whose all-over-the-place career has seen him direct everything from “George Washington” and “Joe” to “Pineapple Express” and “Stronger,” also co-wrote the screenplay with Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley. Jamie Lee Curtis

Halloween 2018 is ‘Halloween Retold’ With Laurie’s Granddaughter

Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis says the new sequel is like the original in “many, many, many ways.” Following the release of Rob Zombie’s Halloween II in 2009, the series went on hiatus while the studio tried to figure out the next step. A couple of different ideas were floated, including a direct sequel to Zombie’s movies called Halloween 3D, which would have found Michael stalking his sister Laurie in an insane asylum, but this idea was quickly scrapped.

Rob Zombie Wraps 3 from Hell, Star Calls It a Masterpiece

Rob Zombie Wraps 3 from Hell, Star Calls It a Masterpiece
That's a wrap on Rob Zombie's 3 from Hell. Almost exactly a month after it was announced that filming had started on the director's surprise sequel to The Devil's Rejects, the movie is in the can and one step closer to making its way to theaters. It's been 13 years since we last saw the murderous Firefly family, but it looks like we'll be getting to see their unlikely return sooner rather than later, as they really got the lead out in making this one.

Bill Moseley, who returns as Otis in 3 From Hell, confirmed via a Facebook post that production has officially wrapped after only beginning last month. He made it quite clear that it isn't his filming that has wrapped as well. In his post, he details the final day of shooting and seems rather excited for the world to see what he's calling a Rob Zombie masterpiece.

Halloween 2018: Jason Blum Praises First Cut of Film

Halloween 2018 producer Jason Blum has seen the first cut of the movie and sounds excited for fans to see it. The Halloween series has something of a twisted timeline, with various sequels either retconning or flat out ignoring the events of previous movies. The last entry in the franchise was Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, a movie that some love for the way it breaks away from the regular sequel formula, but received mixed reviews upon release.

Richard Brake, Who Stole the Show in ’31’, Stars in Rob Zombie’s ‘3 from Hell’!
I wasn’t personally a fan of Rob Zombie’s 31, but the standout highlight of the film was no doubt the scene-stealing Richard Brake‘s performance as “Doom Head.” It’s for this reason that I’m excited to report that he’s on board the just-wrapped 3 from Hell, starring in the film alongside the returning Sheri Moon, Bill Moseley […]

Bill Moseley Says Rob Zombie’s 3 From Hell Is A Masterpiece That’ll Blow Our Minds

You’ve visited the House of 1000 Corpses and bore witness to The Devil’s Rejects; now it’s (almost) time to lay eyes on Rob Zombie’s latest creative effort, 3 From Hell. And it seems the long-rumored threequel has already hit the ground running.

Yes, after the carnival-centric 31 back in 2016, the director has returned to The Devil’s Rejects and its seedy universe, and it’s looking increasingly likely that the somewhat contentious filmmaker will be welcoming viewers on a trip into the fiery depths of the underworld in the not-so-distant future.

Be that as it may, production has now wrapped, with Bill Moseley – who’s returning as Otis, alongside Sid Haig (Captain Spaulding) and Sheri Moon Zombie (Baby), who captured the imagination of horror fans the world over with their performances across both House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects – taking to Facebook to share a promising update.

Hatchet Star Richard Riehle Boards 3 From Hell

Just when you think Rob Zombie has completed his casting spree for 3 From Hell – which, for those who don’t know, is the in-development sequel to The Devil’s Rejects – he adds yet another familiar face. This time, it’s Richard Riehle, who you may recognize from his role as Jim Permatteo in Hatchet but who’s also worked with Zombie on Halloween II, where he played Buddy the Night Watchman.

And so, following the back-to-back addition of Pancho Moler (31) and Machete star Danny Trejo, 3 From Hell‘s casting docket is now full – or so it seems – boasting Riehle, Clint Howard, whose Mr. Baggy Britches is all set to become the second tortured clown of Ruggsville, Austin Stoker (Assault on Precinct 13), Dee Wallace (The Howling, Cujo), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Halloween II), Dot-Marie Jones (American Horror Story) and Tom Papa, (who’s perhaps best known as El Superbeasto). Another Genre Mainstay Has Joined The Cast Of Rob Zombie’s 3 From Hell

If there’s been one common denominator of Rob Zombie’s 3 From Hell casting spree, it’s that the filmmaker has cherry-picked his cast from a pool of frequent collaborators, given the horror threequel has opened its doors to Sid Haig and Bill Moseley and everyone in between.

But thanks to the director’s lively Instagram feed, today brings word of a genuine newcomer: Richard Edson, the genre veteran best known for his performances across Strange Days, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Vietnam war drama, Platoon.

Further character details weren’t disclosed at the time of writing – ditto for all of 3 From Hell‘s other fresh faces – though we understand Edson will bear witness to the resurrection of Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley) and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie), the Firefly Family of House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects.

Here’s confirmation of that casting coup,

A Quiet Place Producers Learned From Friday The 13th Remake’s Mistakes

Thanks to A Quiet Place, we’ve been given some assurance that it’s not just Blumhouse Productions who’ll have the horror market cornered in 2018. Having already created substantial buzz with an effective TV spot that aired during the Super Bowl and an impressive final trailer, this supernatural thriller looks like it may prove to be a sleeper hit when it graces cinemas this spring.

Basically, the film sees John Krasinski and his real life wife, Emily Blunt, play characters who live on a remote farm with their children – and there’s the matter that they can’t make a sound as not to attract the attention of a supernatural entity. Communicating through hand gestures and the like, it should be most intriguing to see what the threat actually is and how these people got here.

Danny Trejo Has Joined Rob Zombie's 3 From Hell

A couple of weeks ago Rob Zombie announced that he had started shooting his sequel to The Devil's Rejects, which he is calling 3 From Hell. The filmmaker has now announced that Danny Trejo has joined the cast, and he shared a photo of himself with the actor on the set of the movie.

Trejo will be reprising his role of Rondo, who appeared in the original film as one of the members of The Unholy Two, which is a group of expert bounty hunters, alongside Billy Ray Snapper.

The film is also part of the same universe as House of 1,000 Corpses and it will tell the story of the resurrection of Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley), and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) as they were all killed at the end of The Devil's Rejects.

Bloody-Disgusting is also reporting that Clint Howard will also be starring in the film,

Just when you think Rob Zombie has completed his casting spree for 3 From Hell – which, for those who don’t know, is the in-development sequel to The Devil’s Rejects – he adds yet another familiar face. Case in point: earlier this morning, we learned of Danny Trejo’s involvement and now, Bloody-Disgusting brings word that Pancho Moler, who played Sick-Head in Zombie’s 31, has climbed on board as well in an undisclosed role.

Elsewhere on the casting docket, the director’s called upon many of his other usual collaborators – and a few new faces – to help round things out, including Austin Stoker (Assault on Precinct 13), The Howling and Cujo‘s Dee Wallace, Jeff Daniel Phillips, and Daniel Roebuck of Halloween fame, the latter of whom will be reprising his Devil’s Rejects role of Morris Green, Ruggsville’s number-one TV personality.

Of course, they’ll all join the three lead stars,
