Graduated from RADA.
As a drama student at RADA, he was told by one of his teachers, the actor Peter Barkworth, that, although he had the potential to make a great contribution to the theatre , it would be "perhaps not as an actor". Indeed, Whitemore had almost no acting success at all, but found considerable acclaim as a writer very quickly and decided to concentrate on that.
