‘Death House’ Interview: Sean Whalen

With the highly-anticipated horror Death House being released in cinemas on March 2nd, I got a chance to ask actor Sean Whalen about what we can expect from the movie, his long and varied acting career and his move into teaching the art of acting and what his dream role would be…

How did you first get into acting?

I was the youngest of four kids, so I used to joke around in my kitchen to entertain my brother and sisters, so I wouldn’t have to clean up after dinner. I would Keep them entertained until they finally figured out what I was doing and then I had to clean the kitchen by myself. But because I was the youngest I got attention that way and made my brothers and sisters laugh, I did the same at school. I did a play in fifth grade, where I directed and

‘Death House’ Interview: Yan Birch

With the highly-anticipated horror Death House being released in cinemas on 23rd February 2018, I got a chance to speak with actor Yan Birch about the legacy of People Under the Stairs (1991), his character in Death House and hanging out with friends on the set.

How did you first get into acting?

My father was in the business in Sweden. Mostly Cabarets and Comedy shows. He was also a musician, so I grew up in a very creative arts environment. I started with music and then moved on to hosting a TV-Show in my teens. Then it continued from there.

You have had various roles over your career, but you are best known for your performance the Stairmaster from People Under the Stairs (1991). Did you think that the character would still be so popular over 25 years later?

I had no idea that anything like this would happen… I did know anything

‘Death House’ Interview: Bill Oberst Jr.

With the highly-anticipated horror Death House being released in cinemas on February 23rd 2018, I got a chance to speak with actor Bill Oberst Jr. about what we can expect from the film, why he loves playing the villain and what characters he would like to portray again on screen.

How did you first get into acting?

As a desperate ploy to get people to like me. In my experience, entertainers begin entertaining either because they think very highly of themselves, or because they think very lowly of themselves. The latter seem, on the whole, to be more successful than the former.

In your career you have become synonymous with horror having played so many notorious characters. Do you enjoy playing the villain or are these just the roles which you found most interesting?

I do enjoy playing the villain. It is my passionate belief that we are all, as Ray Bradbury said,

The Axe Murders Of Villisca Review

As far as “unsolved mystery” horror films go, The Axe Murders Of Villisca is nothing more than generic at best. Why prey on such a famed case in – wait, let’s rewind quick. Are you even aware of this tragic Iowa slaughterfest? Let’s revisit June 9th, 1912. According to legend, a family was brutally murdered at night by a axe-wielding maniac who was never arrested. One by one, the Moore family was beaten to death – some with the axe’s bluntest side, others hacked and slashed. A traveling Presbyterian minister confessed to the murders, claiming he heard windmills in his head before blacking out – but no convictions were made, and the deed went unpunished.

This brings us to writer/director Tony E. Valenzuela’s ghost story spinoff, which sees three modern-day teens sneak into one of America’s most haunted locations. Caleb (Robert Adamson) and Denny (Jarrett Sleeper) already had

Bluray Review: The People Under The Stairs

I’m a fan of when Wes Craven directs films that he’s also written, as they tend to be more than your typical slasher films. Sure, every once in a while we might get a My Soul To Take, but let’s be honest here, the guy knows how to craft a really interesting, scary and socially relevant tale. With The Last House On The Left, we were given an unflinching reaction to Vietnam, a film that didn’t pull back from the onscreen violence and forced its viewers to confront it head-on. In A Nightmare On Elm Street, Craven gave us not only one of the most iconic villains of all time, but also a story about the sins of the parents coming back to not only haunt but kill the children involved. Craven’s knack for writing and directing smart horror has set him apart from many of his contemporaries,
