Audrey Wells was born on January 25, 1960 in San Francisco, California, USA as Audrey Ann Lederer. She was a writer and director, known for The Hate U Give (2018), Guinevere (1999) and Under the Tuscan Sun (2003). She was married to Brian Lane Larky, John James Radzik, Jeffrey D Robinson and Mr Wells. She died on October 4, 2018 in Santa Monica, California.

In an interview with Terry Gross on "Fresh Air" she told how she faked her way into a job as a disc jockey at KJAZ in San Francisco. She says she knew nothing about jazz, but the station manager interviewing her for the job told her to go into the station library and find the 100 best jazz albums. What she did was make a list of the albums that were most worn on their covers' corners and edges.
Was member of the dramatic jury at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006.
After working as a disc jockey at jazz station KJAZ-FM in San Francisco she worked in public radio in remote stations in the Alaskan arctic.
She earned a bachelor's degree from U.C. Berkeley and a master's of fine arts from UCLA.
