The quiz show was the first programme to air on Channel 4 when the broadcaster launched in November 1982 and remains the channel’s longest-running series.
To celebrate the milestone, four broadcasters will each take on a week-long hosting stint alongside resident lexicographer Susie Dent and mathematician Rachel Riley.
Benjamin will be up first, appearing on the week commencing 31 October, with TV judge Rob Rinder joining Dent as the guest in dictionary corner.
She will be followed by celebrity vicar and Radio 4 presenter Reverend Richard Coles the week after. Former BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker will appear with him alongside Dent.

The BBC has become embroiled in a huge row after it censured a presenter for comments she made about Donald Trump on one of the corporation’s flagship shows.
During a July broadcast of BBC Breakfast, host Naga Munchetty took issue with a now-infamous Trump tweet, in which he called on congresswomen Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib to “go back to the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”
Following a discussion of the president’s remark, Munchetty said: “Every time I have been told, as a woman of color, to go back to where I came from, that was embedded in racism.”
Asked by co-host Dan Walker how it made her feel, she added: “Absolutely furious and I can imagine lots of people in this country will be feeling absolutely furious a man in that position thinks it’s Ok to skirt...

I can’t believe no-one has used this title for a horror Christmas film before! But here it is with a new Dread Central Presents… release, Slay Belles; which follows three cosplaying YoutTubers, who film themselves searching abandoned places, who decide to search ‘Santa Land’ on Christmas Eve. They soon find this is a much more real land than they were expecting.
Slay Belles does take a bit of time to get going. It doesn’t take long to explain what the three group of women are and what their characters are like but we get a lot of time spent just following them around, not doing much of interest. Thankfully once they get to Santa Land, things liven up. They are attacked by Krampus and saved by Santa Claus!

Christopher Kennedy, the eighth child of the late Robert F. Kennedy, is expected to announce today his candidacy for governor of Illinois, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Kennedy, a decades-long Illinois resident, has flirted with running for the top seat in Illinois for months, as he’s hired political consultants and pollsters for the run, according to Politico. About 11 years ago, Darren Lynn Bousman first got attention for directing not just Saw II, but it’s two sequels as well, and those being the three most successful movies in the franchise, he was able to go off and do his own thing, which was the horror musical, Repo! The Genetic Opera. In the time since then, Bousman has kept with a number of more personal projects, and one of them that’s finally seeing the light of day is one called Abattoir.
Bousman came up with the idea for Abattoir as a horror comic series published through Radical Publishing before adapting it into a movie starring Jessica Lowndes (90210) as reporter Julia Talben, whose sister is killed in a violent home invasion, which leads to her investigating a strange house buyer who bought the house and removed the murder room, something he’s been doing for other scenes of violent crimes.

To celebrate the recent release of the horror anthology Tales of Halloween (now available on iTunes and all VOD platforms), Daily Dead spoke to the filmmakers behind the movie to discuss the project, their individual contributions and more.
Darren Lynn Bousman exploded onto the horror scene in 2005, taking over the Saw franchise with Saw II and turning the series into a household name at the helm of the first three sequels. He has since balanced studio projects with fiercely independent, more personal cult films like Repo! The Genetic Opera and The Devil’s Carnival. His contribution to Tales of Halloween, “The Night Billy Raised Hell,” stars Barry Bostwick as Satan pulling a series of dark pranks on Halloween night. It’s the lightest thing Bousman has made yet, and also the funniest.

Horror fans love their icons. We watch our favorite movies repeatedly. We visit horror conventions to get up close and personal with the horror stars. We've worshiped the Romeros, Cravens, Hoopers and Carpenters and loved the Englunds, Moseleys, Todds and Hodders.
But in addition to them, we need new blood as well. Say hello to the next great one… Adam Green.
We need that next wave of horror icons. We love our horror stars, but to have the genre live on and thrive as it has, we need new horror superstars. But that is not an easy torch to take. We're used to Romero, Craven and Carpenter. We accept them and will go to see any film they put out. When a guy from Holliston, Ma came out of the blue and threw his hat into the horror genre, we collectively said, "Who the hell is Adam Green?" Then he...

To afficianados of midnight movies across the world, Terrance Zdunich is a tall, imposing figure with multicolored dreadlocks, goth corpsepaint on his face, and a low singing voice that sends chills down the spines of even the most straight-laced audience members.
He is renowned for being the co-creator and star of the sensational cult film “Repo! The Genetic Opera”, which despite a soft opening in 2008 has become a global phenomenon resulting in cosplay competitions, midnight screenings, shadowcasts, and a plethora of people who now look at Paris Hilton in a whole new way. In “Repo!”, Terrance plays the beloved narrator Graverobber, who serves as a sort of Greek muse to the production, tying scenes together with biting wit and wry third-party observations. He is perhaps the most recognizable and celebrated character of the film, and as such Terrance is a frequent guest at shadowcast performances, Q&As, panels, and convention room floors.

You may recall a few months ago we told you about Final Girl Films' competition for indie horror filmmakers looking to make their next short film project. The contest was based on scripts only, and the first runner-up was Bryan Ryan for "The Guest". Dread Central recently had a chance to chat with Bryan about how he first got involved in filmmaking, what's up with "The Guest", and his future plans.
Dread Central: What made you decide to get into filmmaking?
Bryan Ryan: I can trace the whole thing back to two films: Disney's Pinocchio and Jaws. The first for the way it petrified me as a child. I know that I will never forget the effect Pinocchio had on me. Now, the same goes for Jaws, but it goes a step further because of the sheer ingenuity it took to tell That story in That way. And to...

Hello, Dread Central fans! Over the weekend horror activist Spooky Dan Walker released the epic video follow-up to last year's The Twilight Puppet Saga, Puppet New Moon. This writer had the opportunity to not only help out on set (puppet fluffer, anyone?) but also was able to document all the behind-the-scenes shenanigans that happened during several days of shooting.
While a puppet movie might seem like a cake walk in comparison to making movies with human performances, Puppet New Moon involved a team of about fifteen or so people working nonstop for days in terms of building set pieces, costumes, puppets, and werewolves from scratch; and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Take a look at some of the pictures from behind-the-scenes of Puppet New Moon, and keep your eyes peeled for some upcoming behind-the-scenes footage as well.

How about one more video mocking Twilight? I've been finding these great spoofs making fun of the depressed vampire/human/wolf saga, and this might be my last post containing one. What's funnier than puppets? Okay, not like Jeff Dunham puppets, that guy is painfully unfunny. Well, the awesome Spooky Dan Walker from Dread Central has put together his own spin on the Twi-phenom. I giggled watching this thing the entire way though. The Edward puppet is my favorite. His constant grooming makes him very believable. Oh, and if you haven't seen New Moon, this does have spoilers somewhat.

It's hard to believe another year is in the can and we're going stronger than ever. We have a ton of stuff to be thankful for so allow us to indulge ourselves for a moment ...
Speaking for myself and, I'm sure, Jon Condit and Kw Low, my partners and fellow founding fathers of this asylum we all call home, we're thankful for all of our friends in the industry -- from press and PR to talent -- who have embraced us and let us become part of their projects to help out any way that we can.
We're thankful for our badass motherfuckin' staff, both old and new. We're thankful for the old-schoolers like Scott and Tabby Johnson, who always go above and beyond. For Nomad, who always goes the extra mile to make sure everyone's covered with the latest and taken care of at live events. For Buz and Andrew,...

It's no secret I don't like Twilight. It's just not for me. In fact I cringe a little every time I have to do a news story about it. This time, however, is a bit different. In fact, I'm happy. Why, you ask? Because the wonderfully demented yet genius mind of one Spooky Dan Walker has found a way for even anti-Twilight stalwarts like myself to finally enjoy the franchise!

(Note: This story will be "stickied" at the top of our headlines for the day. Being able to host it is an honor beyond words.)
It was a Blood-Red-letter day for fandom as pros and fans alike gathered to bid a reluctant “Forry-well” to the late great genre-icon Forrest J. Ackerman! Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theatre served as a temple for the filled-to-capacity ritual sponsored by the American Cinematheque, Profiles in History auction house and the Ackerman estate.
Guests began waiting on line at around 1:00Pm for the scheduled 3:00Pm reception. By 2:30 over 200 bodies had congregated at the doors of the theater. Inside, staff was scrambling. Pieces of Forry’s collection were being displayed (A first edition of Dracula signed by Bram Stoker and almost everyone who ever played the famous Vampire on screen, Bela Lugosi’s Dracula cape and Forry’s fave prop: the “Robotrix” from...
