Movie Review – Slay Belles (2018)

Slay Belles. 2018.

Directed by Dan Walker.

Starring Barry Bostwick, Kristina Klebe, Susan Slaughter, Hannah Wagner, Stephen Ford, Diane Salinger, and Richard Moll.

Synopsis:

It’s Christmas Eve, and three cosplaying women come across the malevolent Christmas demon Krampus. The girls must team up with Santa Claus himself to battle the creature and save the world.

Dan Walker’s Slay Belles: another traditional North Pole distortion that values “Ha Ha Ha’s” over “Ho Ho Horrors.” More Ugly Sweater Party in its exploitation tomfoolery than A Christmas Horror Story, where Krampus’ smackdown against Santa evokes primordial savagery. Is that a reference only, like, two of you will understand? Of course. You haven’t endured even half the Christmas Horror obscurities as this disturbed critic. If there’s anyone you can trust on such options you’re reading him. What we have here is a slapstick-silly seasonal brawl sold on sex appeal,

‘Slay Belles’ Review

Stars: Barry Bostwick, Kristina Klebe, Susan Slaughter, Diane Salinger, Richard Moll, Hannah Wagner | Written by Jessica Luhrssen, Dan Walker | Directed by Spooky Dan Walker

I can’t believe no-one has used this title for a horror Christmas film before! But here it is with a new Dread Central Presents… release, Slay Belles; which follows three cosplaying YoutTubers, who film themselves searching abandoned places, who decide to search ‘Santa Land’ on Christmas Eve. They soon find this is a much more real land than they were expecting.

Slay Belles does take a bit of time to get going. It doesn’t take long to explain what the three group of women are and what their characters are like but we get a lot of time spent just following them around, not doing much of interest. Thankfully once they get to Santa Land, things liven up. They are attacked by Krampus and saved by Santa Claus!

The Lrm Interview with Abattoir Director Darren Lynn Bousman

About 11 years ago, Darren Lynn Bousman first got attention for directing not just Saw II, but it’s two sequels as well, and those being the three most successful movies in the franchise, he was able to go off and do his own thing, which was the horror musical, Repo! The Genetic Opera. In the time since then, Bousman has kept with a number of more personal projects, and one of them that’s finally seeing the light of day is one called Abattoir.

Bousman came up with the idea for Abattoir as a horror comic series published through Radical Publishing before adapting it into a movie starring Jessica Lowndes (90210) as reporter Julia Talben, whose sister is killed in a violent home invasion, which leads to her investigating a strange house buyer who bought the house and removed the murder room, something he’s been doing for other scenes of violent crimes.

Interview with Tales Of Halloween’s Darren Lynn Bousman

  • DailyDead
To celebrate the recent release of the horror anthology Tales of Halloween (now available on iTunes and all VOD platforms), Daily Dead spoke to the filmmakers behind the movie to discuss the project, their individual contributions and more.

Darren Lynn Bousman exploded onto the horror scene in 2005, taking over the Saw franchise with Saw II and turning the series into a household name at the helm of the first three sequels. He has since balanced studio projects with fiercely independent, more personal cult films like Repo! The Genetic Opera and The Devil’s Carnival. His contribution to Tales of Halloween, “The Night Billy Raised Hell,” stars Barry Bostwick as Satan pulling a series of dark pranks on Halloween night. It’s the lightest thing Bousman has made yet, and also the funniest.

While there has been comedy in some of the other films you’ve made, “The Night Billy Raised

Doctor Gash's Tip of the Scalpel - Filmmaker Adam Green

Horror fans love their icons. We watch our favorite movies repeatedly. We visit horror conventions to get up close and personal with the horror stars. We've worshiped the Romeros, Cravens, Hoopers and Carpenters and loved the Englunds, Moseleys, Todds and Hodders.

But in addition to them, we need new blood as well. Say hello to the next great one… Adam Green.

We need that next wave of horror icons. We love our horror stars, but to have the genre live on and thrive as it has, we need new horror superstars. But that is not an easy torch to take. We're used to Romero, Craven and Carpenter. We accept them and will go to see any film they put out. When a guy from Holliston, Ma came out of the blue and threw his hat into the horror genre, we collectively said, "Who the hell is Adam Green?" Then he

The Devil’s Carnival (2012)

Written by: Terrance Zdunich

Directed by: Darren Lynn Bousman

Featuring: Emilie Autumn, Sean Patrick Flanery, Bill Moseley, Ogre, Alexa Vega, Dayton Callie, Briana Evigan, Jessica Lowden, Terrance Zdunich, Paul Sorvino, Marc Senter

For the diehard fans of Repo! The Genetic Opera, when whispers began over a year ago that Darren Lynn Bousman (director of Mother’s Day, 11-11-11 and several of the Saw films) and Terrance Zdunich (Repo!, The Molting comic book) were teaming up once more for another musical endeavor, the project couldn’t debut fast enough. Promotional images promised a whimsical goth-tinged carnival spearheaded by Lucifer himself, and early glimpses of soundtrack bites included performances from iconic genre staples like Emilie Autumn, Ogre (Skinny Puppy) and Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch). The project was not a studio endeavor; rather, it was filmed in about seven days, produced almost exclusively by Zdunich and Bousman themselves, with help
