Frantisek Vlácil was born on February 19, 1924 in Cesky Tesin, Moravian-Silesian, Czech Republic. He was a director and writer, known for Marketa Lazarová (1967), Adelheid (1970) and Stíny horkého léta (1978). He died on January 28, 1999 in Prague, Czech Republic.

Leading Czech director, former animator, documentarist and maker of educational and training films for the army.
He was considered for the small part of drunken guest in Run, Waiter, Run! (1981), eventually played by Ilja Racek.
He was considered as director of Výstrely v Mariánských Lázních (1973).
