1944 born in Sosnowitz (Upper Silesia), studied sociology and
economics. Spent three years as a freelance employee at the Munich's
Department of Town Planning.
1972 - 75 Munich College of Film and TV
1976 founded DENKmal-Film Production with Claus Strigel. Collaborating as producers, authors and directors, they have produced more than 120 films for cinema and television.
As of 2013, there are two DENKmal-Films: DENKmal-Film Verhaag GmbH and DENKmal-Film Strigel GmbH.
Bertram Verhaag is making documentary films for over 30 years and he is one of the few filmmakers, who are consequently, persisting and sustainably engaged exclusively in scientific, environmental and social subjects. His films are in a sense contributions to the democratic culture and "education" by portraying again and again people who interfere in social questions.
