Burr Tillstrom was born on October 13, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, USA as Franklin Burr Tillstrom. He is known for his work on Kukla, Fran and Ollie (1969), The Wizard of Oz (1950) and That Was the Week That Was (1964). He died on December 6, 1985 in Palm Springs, California, USA.

Winner of an UNIMA Citation of Excellence award from the American Chapter of the Union Internationale de la Marionnette, 1979.

"Burr" was his mother's family name.
He got his start in high school theater. He left the University of Chicago after one semester to join a puppet theater company run by the city's parks department and funded by the Works Progress Administration.
