Shanti Thakur was born in Canada, to an Indian father and Danish mother. Based in New York City, she is a director and writer, working in both fiction and documentary. Her latest film is the poetic documentary Terrible Children (2021). She is known for Red Tulips: A Story About Forgetting (2012), Sky People (2008) and Seven Hours to Burn (2000).
