Carter (Jane), a troubled veteran who gets a chance at redemption by protecting a 12 year-old girl from an assassin after she witnesses a murder. Holding a shotgun with a single shell, he engages in physical and psychological warfare in a desperate fight for the girl’s life.

Unsurprisingly, the main premise for the film Standoff is that the film involves a stand-off between the two main characters as they both try to get the upper hand. If done incorrectly, this film has the ability to be incredibly boring. Let’s be honest, with neither party having the upper hand, it doesn’t leave much wiggle room for exciting things to happen. The Colony Draws You into Its Frozen Landscape: A Movie Review

Cast: Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Zegers, Bill Paxton, Charlotte Sullivan and John Tench. The post-apocalyptic film The Colony had its World Premiere in Toronto April 3rd, 2013. This indie title was then released in theatres across Canada in mid-April. Now, this critic has finally seen the film and the wait was mostly worth it. The Colony brings a slightly unique landscape to the post-apocalyptic genre, a frozen wasteland. Instead of nuclear waste or arid deserts, several characters must survive lack of food, illness and the occasional band of roaming cannibals. The plot holes in The Colony are frequent, but the film still manages to be enjoyable. The film's story involves about 40 people living in an underground lair. The Colony's Behind-the-scenes Featurette is Shot Hundreds of Feet Below Ground

The Colony is a post-apocalyptic thriller that is set for release in theatres April 26th. The film stars Laurence Fishburne and Bill Paxton. Entertainment One and Alliance Films will distribute this film in Canada and these distributors have released a behind-the-scenes featurette for The Colony. The reel covers some of the challenges of production. Cinematographer Pierre Gill relates how certain visual effects shots were set up. Several bridge scenes were particularly difficult to shoot. As well, the actors relate their experiences shooting several hundred feet below ground, in one of N.O.R.A.D.'s decommissioned facilities. Exciting New Trailer & Poster For Sc-Fi Thriller ‘The Colony’

We have the first look at the international trailer and poster for post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller The Colony, starring Laurence Fishburne, Bill Paxton and Kevin Zegers. Jeff Renfroe co-wrote and directed the film which hits Canadian cinemas on 12th April. No Us or UK dates have been confirmed as yet.

The futuristic film is set during the next ice age, as a scattering of outpost colonists struggle to survive below the world’s frozen surface, which are running seriously short on food supplies, leading to illness and internal conflict. After losing contact with Colony 5, Colony 7′s leader Briggs (Laurence Fishburne) decides to lead an expedition to uncover the reasons, however, the team discover a threat much worse than nature and must battle to save themselves and protect their fellow colonists in what could be humanity’s last stand.

Jeff Renfroe’s The Colony Delivers its First Post-Apocalyptic Trailer

I’ve been following Jeff Renfroe’s post-apocalyptic monster movie “The Colony” for a while now, and it looks like all that waiting has paid off. Check out the first trailer for the sci-fi/horror film, which stars Laurence Fishburne and Bill Paxton as a pair of bickering old guys that must lead a bunch of young whippersnappers against some cannibal types with humanity at stake. You know, that old thing. The trailer is very revealing, and I’m pretty sure it gives away the movie’s entire three acts, but that seems inevitable these days, right? Fans of post-apocalyptic cannibal movies should be intrigued. Me, I’m just wondering if Bill Paxton will somehow fit in his famous line from “Aliens”. Castiel (Misha Collins) sits and contemplates, well reveals much about his life over a vast millenia. Being at a shoreline - old fish - wash up, Tower of Babel and how it fell, Cain, Abel, David and Goliath, and recalls the Apocalypse cos it never happened. Beaten by "two boys, a drunk and a fallen angel. Who has ideas of his own, big plans. Leaving freedom and choice and no destiny..." How would he know if he made the wrong choice? "Let me tell you everything." Cas in Dean's (Jensen Ackles) car - Satan Jr's alive, meaning Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Cas claims to be looking for him and he looked suspicious when he so innocently sat in the Impala asking Dean all those questions. Crowley is torturing more monsters - see Cas was sneaking around. Eve opened the door to purgatory and Crowley would have. Cas screwed up cos he's distracted.

Indie Corner - Trailer for supernatural thriller Comforting Skin

The feature debut from writer-director-producer Derek Franson, Comforting Skin is a supernatural thriller about a lonely young woman whose desperate need for emotional and sexual companionship draws her into a surreal and ultimately destructive relationship with a shifting and whispering tattoo she has willed to life on her skin.

Having shot the film last spring on a budget of $250,000, producers Franson, Justin James and Andrew Webster are now in the final days of completing the film, with just a few effects shots left to complete. The slithering, shifting tattoo character was brought to life through the use of digital animation and compositing techniques, requiring custom code developed by VFX Supervisor Ollie Rankin (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Matrix Revolutions, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Watchmen, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Red Dawn, J. Edgar).

Dark Crime Thriller Repeaters to Echo at Tiff September 13th

Where the Heck is this Going-ness: It is the Dead Hooker In A Trunk Trailer!

Yes, I am stealing the pull-quote from Andrew McQuade over at GoreZone, because that seems to be the vibe in this trailer, despite the very blunt grind-house-ish title.
