We've been waiting a long time to announce this one. Former Rue Morgue magazine editor-in-chief Vuckovic is about to shoot her directorial debut - a monster movie short produced by del Toro.
Knowing what we do of the director/writer's tastes in horror, we're expecting something creepy, but beautiful. The 'fairy tale' aspect to the storyline also seems appropriate for del Toro's mentorship. If there's one thing del Toro does well, it is fantastical imagery.
“Jovanka’s vision has been honed to perfection and combines true poetry with savage instinct,” says del Toro. “[It’s] lyrical and brutal. Just what the doctor ordered.”
“The Captured Bird is inspired in part by a childhood nightmare, the writings of H. P. Lovecraft, the fables of the Brothers Grimm and the paranormal phenomenon referred to as The Shadow People,” explains writer-director Vuckovic. “It’s sort of a dark fable that I hope people will find haunting,
