An adaptation of a supernatural J.M. Barrie (Peter Pan) tale, The Island Between Tides is releasing theatrically in the US, UK and Canada this month from Vertical and XYZ Films.

Vertical has acquired U.S. rights to fantasy thriller The Lost Daughter, a gothic mystery directed by Emmy winner Austin Andrews and Andrew Holmes, marking the writer-director duo’s second feature film. The film is slated for release in early 2025 in select theaters.

Based on Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie’s dark fantasy Mary Rose, the film stars Paloma Kwiatkowski (Riot Girls), David Mazouz (Gotham) and Camille Sullivan (Hunter Hunter), with Golden Globe nominee Adam Beach (The Power of the Dog) and Donal Logue (Zodiac).

Jared Keeso's hockey-centric Letterkenny spinoff Shoresy is driven by running gags and ongoing jokes, and few are funnier than Shoresy's never-ending pursuit of reporter Laura Mohr, which results in some absolutely hilarious pick-up lines. Not much is known about Shoresy's background, including what his first name is, but over the course of Shoresy the audience learns that there is more heart to the foul-mouthed hockey veteran than he would ever admit. Fresh off the box office success of Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs, which just had the highest opening weekend in the company’s history, Neon has picked up YouTube critic Chris Stuckmann’s debut horror movie Shelby Oaks, Deadline reports this afternoon.

Neon has acquired worldwide rights to the found footage horror movie, which is World Premiering at Fantasia this week. No word yet on a wide release date. Stay tuned for more.

Horror master Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, “The Fall of the House of Usher”) recently came on board the upcoming Shelby Oaks as an executive producer. Flanagan, Trevor Macy and Melinda Nishioka of Intrepid Pictures have joined the team.

Independent distributor Neon just scored another cool horror flick – they’ve acquired worldwide rights to the upcoming documentary/found footage hybrid Shelby Oaks. Even better, it’s the directorial debut of YouTube movie reviewer Chris Stuckmann!

Shelby Oaks follows Camille Sullivan as she searches for her missing sister, played by Sarah Durn. Her sister disappeared while filming her paranormal investigation web series. Brendan Sexton III also stars in what sounds like a creepy mystery.

What’s really wild is how the movie got made. Stuckmann’s production company launched a Kickstarter that raised over $1.3 million – making it the highest funded horror film ever on the site! Exec producers include Mike Flanagan and Adam Goldberg too.

Neon plans a theatrical release in the US and will handle international sales. They negotiated the deal with Stuckmann’s production company Paper Street Pictures.

Stuckmann’s debut film will have its world premiere at Fantasia Festival on Saturday.

Launched from a 2022 Kickstarter campaign which raised $1.39M for the film in under a month – the most-funded horror film ever on Kickstarter – Shelby Oaks follows Mia (Sullivan) as she frantically searches for her sister Riley (Durn), who ominously disappeared in the last tape of her investigative series, ‘Paranormal Paranoids’.

The film stars Camille Sullivan (Hunter Hunter), Brendan Sexton III (Don’t Breathe 2) and Sarah Durn (Where the Crawdads Sing). Producers are Stuckmann, Aaron B. Koontz, Ashleigh Snead, and Cameron Burns for Paper Street Pictures.

Shoresy season 3 kicks off with the Bulldogs facing a defeat, setting the stage for a high-stakes playoff and championship. It’s almost time for the Fantasia Film Festival! North America’s premiere genre festival has become the place to be if you’re a horror aficionado, and as a proud Montrealer, I get a kick out of the fact that it all takes place in my home city. I’ve been attending the festival for many years, and I always end up seeing some incredible movies. Last year’s Fantasia featured the Canadian premiere of what’s probably the best horror movie of the last year or so – Late Night With The Devil, and this year’s program seems certain to be another winner, with Fantasia announcing the first wave of titles today.

Two years ago, the project became the most-funded horror film project in Kickstarter history, with its crowdfunding campaign pulling in over $1 million. Deadline reports that horror master Mike Flanagan has come on board the upcoming Shelby Oaks as an executive producer. Flanagan, Trevor Macy and Melinda Nishioka of Intrepid Pictures have joined the team.

Shelby Oaks is currently in post-production, so we expect to hear more soon.

Hulu has announced that Shoresy Season 3 will debut on Friday, June 21, 2024. All six new episodes will be available on that day on Hulu in the U.S. The first two seasons are streaming now.

Created by and starring Jared Keeso, Shoresy sees the foul-mouthed, chirp-serving, mother-loving, fan-favorite character, Shoresy (Keeso) and the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs of the Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization (The Nosho) continue their quest never to lose again.
