‘Last Week Tonight’: John Oliver Takes Hilarious Aim at Third-Party Candidates — Watch
Taking a break from all the craziness surrounding Donald Trump and his claim that Hillary Clinton and the media are conspiring to rig the 2016 presidential election, John Oliver focused on third-party candidates Jill Stein and Gary Johnson during Sunday’s episode of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight.” Believe it or not, some of Stein and Johnson’s policy proposals are equally absurd as what Trump has proposed.

For example, one of Stein’s flagship proposals involves canceling the $1.3 trillion debt burden weighing down students and recent graduates in the U.S., something she has said the president has the authority to do. Oliver pointed out that, unfortunately, that’s not exactly true.

“In terms of how fundamentally flawed that is on every level, it’s basically akin to saying ‘I’ll make us energy independent by ordering the post office to invade Canada,

“Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver put the current presidential election in perspective for HBO viewers Sunday by pointing out how unprecedented the stories surrounding the two candidates truly are.

Monday’s debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump could be watched by more than 100 million people, but interestingly, both candidates and their campaigns have been defined less by questions about their policies than concerns about their ethics, Oliver pointed out.

“Polls show that less than half the electorate sees either candidate as honest or trustworthy,” Oliver said, adding that if Clinton loses, she will likely “sit there motionless not speaking until she eventually dies.”

After briefly making up a fake scandal about Hillary Clinton just to test out his audience, Oliver began recapping the various scandals following both candidates, starting with Clinton.

John Oliver Skewers Labor Day in Hilarious ‘Last Week Tonight’ Digital Short — Watch
They say you shouldn’t wear white after Labor Day, and “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver is using that adage as inspiration for a handful of other things that people should stop doing.

“We should be using more holidays as arbitrary points to stop doing things,” Oliver said in his latest web exclusive. “We should have a rule that, after Thanksgiving, you have to stop decorating your home with gourds. It’s cute in October, it’s acceptable but obnoxiously folksy in November, but after that, you’re just keeping loose produce lying around.”

Synopsis: Years after a mysterious plague has devastated the planet and turned most of humanity into blood-hungry creatures, a rogue drifter on a vengeful hunt stumbles across a band of survivors in an abandoned police station and reluctantly agrees to try to help them defend themselves and escape to the sanctuary they so desperately need.

There’s been a lot of zombie apocalypse material in the horror genre these days that it might be easy to pass over a title just because you’ve seen it all been done before.

Should you come across Daylight’S End, however, be sure to give this adventure a look, as it’s a well-polished action horror that strives to do something out of the ordinary.

Directed by William Kaufman and written by Chad Law, Daylight’s End is a slick, energetic piece that knows which notes it

‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Adds Jim Broadbent in a ‘Significant’ Role
Among its many other merits, “Game of Thrones” has served valiantly as a showcase for esteemed British actors. Series regulars (Charles Dance, Jonathan Pryce) and guest stars (Ian McShane) have added to Westeros’ impressively deep roster, and those who haven’t already departed the series in a violent fashion will soon be joined by Jim Broadbent.

The Oscar winner will have a “significant” role on the show’s seventh (and penultimate) season, reports Entertainment Weekly; as is custom for “Thrones,” no more information is being divulged. Speculation as to who he might play is sure to run rampant online for quite some time, as the next season doesn’t begin until summer of 2017 — now that winter has finally arrived in Westeros, production can’t begin until later in the year than it has in past seasons.

Movie Review – Daylight’s End (2016)

Daylight’s End, 2016.

Directed by William Kaufman.

Starring Johnny Strong, Lance Henriksen, Louis Mandylor and Chelsea Edmundson.

Synopsis:

Years after a mysterious plague has devastated the planet and turned most of humanity into blood-hungry creatures, a rogue drifter on a vengeful hunt stumbles across a band of survivors in an abandoned police station and reluctantly agrees to try to help them defend themselves and escape to the sanctuary they so desperately need.

Johnny Strong (Fast and the Furious, Black Hawk Down) plays Thomas Rourke, a loner on the move in a post apocalyptic world filled with zombies after an outbreak. I was a little worried when the opening credits showed snippets of news reports detailing how the zombie apocalypse had escalated, much like another famous zombie movie, World War Z, but my worries were for nought. This movie turned out to be a high action, quick moving film that could

Watch John Oliver Pitch 5th Grade Superhero 'Johnny Strong' to Hollywood
With Last Week Hiatus on their late-summer vacation, John Oliver took a break from Donald Drumpf bashing to focus on another issue plaguing our society: The non-stop barrage of superhero movies invading our multiplexes.

"Every year, the market is flooded with movies about superheroes. Just this year, blockbusters included movies ranging from 'Mean Spider-Man' [Deadpool] to 'Sad Man Versus Super Sad Man' [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice] to 'The Insane Clown Posse Takes Manhattan' [Suicide Squad]," Oliver said. "I do think some audience members are becoming fatigued from watching the same characters over and over again.

“Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver took Hollywood to task recently for making movie after movie using the same DC and Marvel superheroes, but instead of simply highlighting a problem, he also proposed a creative solution. Oliver pitched a brand new superhero he created as a child called Johnny Strong.

John Oliver and “Last Week Tonight” were off this week, but that didn’t stop the HBO host from making an impassioned pitch for a new movie series in a web exclusive video. No relation,” Oliver said. “But from the time school lets out until dinner, he becomes, let’s say, the unconventionally handsome hero Johnny Strong.” See video: John Oliver Pitches Donald Trump.

Post-Apocalyptic action horror film 'Daylight's End' coming to theaters and VOD

By Seth Metoyer

MoreHorror.com

There are a lot of post-apocalyptic films swirling around in the wind these days. Most of them have zombies, and the genre is honestly getting a bit tired.

That being said, I'm genuinely excited about the upcoming release of Daylight's End. I've had this one on my radar ever since I watched the trailer a while back.

The film is a post-apocalyptic action horror film starring Johnny Strong and Lance Henriksen. Directored by William Kaufman and written by Chad Law.

This one promises the big guns and action, and that's what I dig about this offering -- I like things that go boom! Plus Lance Hendriksen and the entire team involved in this movie makes it one you simply don't want to miss.

Daylight's End will release in limited theaters and on VOD on Friday, August 26th. Check out the synopsis and Exclusive Trailer Premiere below.

Interview: Daylight's End Star Johnny Strong On Making Movies And Living Life

One of my favorite films of 2010 was William Kaufman's Sinners & Saints, and even though it is only April, I already know that his new film Daylight’s End, an exciting thriller set in the post-apocalyptic world, will be on my list of favorite films at the end of this year. Both are low-budget but great-looking action films that star amazing actor Johnny Strong. It was with great pleasure that I spoke with Johnny about Daylight’s End, independent filmmaking and his upcoming film projects. Hugo Ozman: Daylight’S End is set in a world where humans become bloodthirsty creatures. What made you want to be in a post-apocalyptic thriller? Johnny Strong: William Kaufman, the director, called me and pitched me the film. I'm always...
