Rex Stewart was born on February 22, 1907 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA as Jr. William Stewart. He was an actor, known for Rendezvous in July (1949), Jam Session (1942) and The Seven Lively Arts (1957). He died on September 7, 1967 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1994.
Cornetist.
Cornet player, a master of the half valve style. Later in life, became a disc jockey (station WROW in Albany, New York) and teacher of jazz history. Prominent member of the famous Duke Ellington Orchestra from 1934 to 1945, subsequently led own groups as well as prolific output as a soloist.
