Dolly Parton’s New Children’s Album Will Benefit Her Non-Profit: ‘People Relate to Me’ Being Like ‘Mother Goose’

Dolly Parton’s New Children’s Album Will Benefit Her Non-Profit: ‘People Relate to Me’ Being Like ‘Mother Goose’
Dolly Parton is using her self-proclaimed fairy-tale face (and voice) for a great cause.

The famed singer and actress is set to release her first children’s album, I Believe In You, whose profits will go right back into her non-profit organization Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

“That fact that I love kids and people relate to me looking like a Mother Goose or Cinderella — you know, one of those over-exaggerated cartoon characters — it gets children’s attention, and it keeps me young,” Parton, 71, tells People ahead of the album’s release.

“We talk about responsibility, we talk about bullying,

The Obamas Gave Out Homemade Cookies to Trick-or-Treaters—Get the Recipe
They might be known for projects like the Let’s Move! campaign and the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge—but on Halloween, First Lady Michelle Obama and President Barack Obama handed out a deliciously decadent gift to trick-or-treaters: Halloween sugar cookies.

On Monday, the White House grounds were transformed into A Storybook Journey, with different theme stations inspired by tales like Mother Goose, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, and Peter Rabbit. As acrobats and Joy of Motion dancers dressed in fiery orange costumes performed on pedestals, the foodie First couple welcomed about 4,000 people—including local Washington, D.C.

Halloween at the White House: Decorations, Ghostly Visitors, and (Sorry, Michelle) Candy!

Halloween at the White House: Decorations, Ghostly Visitors, and (Sorry, Michelle) Candy!
President and Mrs. Obama welcomed trick-or-treaters to the White House for the last time on Monday, and you better believe they’re not leave-a-bowl-of-candy-on-the-porch types.

Thousands of visitors stopped by for a treat, and the historic structure received a fantastical new look for the occasion. Characters from famous children’s storybooks including Mother Goose, Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz make appearances in the larger than life decor, but Alice in Wonderland steals the show. A gold pocket watch swings from the South Portico framed by giant mechanical white rabbits, and, below, a chess board floor. Live performers even dot the lawn,

What Does Jennifer Garner Think of Her Cheeky Reading of Go the F--- to Sleep? 'I Just Hope My Parents Don't See It!'
Forget Mother Goose. Bedtime stories just got a whole lot more fun with Jennifer Garner at the helm, after the actress delivered a wicked reading of the spoof children's book Go the F--- to Sleep. But while fans (not to mention weary parents everywhere) got a collective kick out of it, there are two people whom Garner hopes won't get an earful of her inspired reading: her very own folks. "I just hope my parents don't see it!" she told reporters recently while promoting her upcoming drama Miracles from Heaven in Los Angeles. As for that anguished parental plea that the book parodies?

Samantha Bee was once an awesome Mother Goose on 'Sesame Street'

Samantha Bee was once an awesome Mother Goose on 'Sesame Street'
Full Frontal with Samantha Bee is off to a running start thanks to its whip-smart commentary on Jeb Bush and his wilting exclamation point, but let's not forget that Samantha Bee once gave us a formal lesson in rhetoric on Sesame Street -- in a stunning Mother Goose costume. In 2013, Bee appeared on Sesame Street as a rhyme-penning Mother Goose who'd come down with writer's block. Luckily some pals arrive to help her out in this preview clip. So keep in mind as Full Frontal rolls on that Samantha Bee is not just an authority on Daily Show-style punditry. She also knows a thing or two about Dr. Seuss literary tricks.  As a side note, I love thinking of Mother Goose as an agitated Lillian Hellman type attempting to get her inspiration down on paper.

New Look at Rob Zombie’s Halloween-Set Horror Film ‘31’

With Rob Zombie's upcoming film 31 taking place in a setting known as "Murder World", you can expect to find plenty of malevolent monsters (of the human variety) around every corner, as evidenced in the latest still from the film, which shows someone who looks like they came from Dr. Frankenstein's lab.

Revealed by Bloody Disgusting, the new still from Rob Zombie's 31 features a very memorable member of the Murder World proceedings. Though the official cast member and character in the still haven't been announced, there are physical similarities between this character and Richard Brake's Doom-Head, who was revealed in a shadow-shrouded still in March, so they very well could be one and the same.
