Welcome to the world of “Daredevil,” where Catholic guilt, hallway fights and philosophical pondering reign supreme and the parallel journeys of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk unfold, leading one to become the red-suited hero known as Daredevil and the other to shed his heroic aspirations and embrace the dark mantle as the Kingpin.
The first season charts those journeys in tandem, introducing us to Charlie Cox’s Murdock, an up-and-coming lawyer who was blinded as a child in an accident. But that accident also gifted him with super-sensory powers that allow Murdock to take justice into his own hands outside the law after working hours. Though he will become Marvel’s horned hero Daredevil, the Man Without Fear, he spends most of the first season as “The Man in the Mask,” donning a pedestrian black outfit including a black mask pulled over his eyes.

Winkler, star of “Happy Days” and “Barry,” will play the mayor of Normal, while “Game of Thrones” and “300” favorite Headey is the local bartender, Moira.
“Normal” is directed by Ben Wheatley from a screenplay written by “John Wick” creator Derek Kolstad, who shares a story credit with Odenkirk. Producers are Marc Provissiero (“Nobody,” “No Hard Feelings”), Odenkirk and Kolstad, who all recently wrapped “Nobody 2.”

The portrayal of Hawaii onscreen has ranged from war dramas about Pearl Harbor to “The Descendants” and “50 First Dates” to “The White Lotus,” and most recently “Last Goal Wins.” Now, the tropical paradise in the Pacific finds a new lens — and voice — in Christopher Kahunahana’s feature debut “Waikiki.”
While the film fumbles through a stripped down script and stumbles towards a surrealist attempt at reframing the threats of tourism, “Waikiki” still offers a voice from a Native Hawaiian about his homeland. Sundance Lab alum Kahunahana wrote and directed the drama which follows hula dancer Kea (Danielle Zalopany) as her personal life crumbles.
Kea tries to hide the black eye her boyfriend Branden (Jason Quinn) pummeled into her; she tries to plaster a smile onstage while dancing and keeps her spirits up to deflect questions about her injury to curious young students where she teaches. But it’s when...

(Los Angeles, CA) The dystopian science-fiction audio drama Broken Road, created by Fear The Walking Dead writer Jacob Pinion and Hero Mode producer E.J. Kavounas, has published its entire ten-episode first season, following a veteran struggling with obsolete military implants who teams up with a defiant farmer and her daughter against a corrupt, morally unhinged lawman. The first season has reached over 100K downloads.
Broken Road offers something for everyone: action-packed fight scenes, quiet moments of personal struggle, romantic tension, and human connection. At its core, it is a story of community-based resilience and resourcefulness in the face of unrelenting corporate greed and seemingly insurmountable forces. Based on the short story “Patience Lake” by Matthew Claxton, writers Pinion and Kavounas were inspired by the subject.

Offering a literal behind-the-scenes glimpse of the iconic tourist spot, Christopher Kahunahana’s splendid debut feature, Waikiki, is a succinct emotional dive into the complex intergenerational trauma that plagues many Native Hawaiians. Foregrounding the stark economic divide between the resorts and the city, Kahunahana’s film is purportedly the first film written and directed by a Native Hawaiian. A marvel of economic storytelling, Waikiki spotlights the social and spiritual erosion of colonial tourism on the indigenous population.
The film follows Kea (Danielle Zalopany), a hard working native Hawaiian who is balancing three jobs while living out of her van, and saving enough money for a room. One drunken night, after a fight with her abusive boyfriend (Jason Quinn), she flees in her van – hitting a homeless man, Wo (Peter Shinkoda) in the process. Distraught, she puts Wo into her van, eventually shuttling him around as she attempts to maintain her rotating jobs.

"A combination of beauty, pain, and longing..." An official trailer has debuted for a strange, mesmerizing new film titled Waikiki, marking the feature directorial debut of native Hawaiian filmmaker Christopher Kahunahana. One of the quotes in this trailer even says this "marks the emergence of a New Hawaiian Cinema" which actually might be the case. As much as that is superlative, this film seems like it might be the first of its kind - showing us a side of Hawaii we've never seen before. When a hula dancer on the run crashes into a broken spirit of a man (a mysterious homeless guy in the dead of night), they begin a journey into a hidden world, developing a connection through humanity, nature, and their culture. The indie film stars Danielle Zalopany as Kea, along with Peter Shinkoda, Jason Quinn, Kimo Kahoano, Nick Masciangelo, and Kainoa Mcgee. There's tons of peculiar,...

Peter Shinkoda, who played crime boss Nobu Yoshioka in nine episodes of Marvel’s Netflix superhero series “Daredevil,” revealed during Comic-Con@Home (via The Wrap) that former Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb deliberately cut out stories centered on Asian characters from the series. Loeb allegedly told the “Daredevil” writers room that “nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people” in film and television projects. One storyline that Loeb reportedly cut deepened the relationship between Shinkoda’s Nobu and Wai Ching Ho’s character, Madame Gao.
“Jeph Loeb told the writers room not to write for Nobu and Gao — and this was reiterated many times by many of the writers and showrunners,” Shinkoda said. “[Loeb said], ‘Nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people. Though Marvel TV in its previous iteration is at this point all but extinct, there is still much to discuss about the now-canceled flagship of the Netflix/Marvel collaboration, Daredevil. Speaking on a livestream organized by the #SaveDaredevil campaign, actor Peter Shinkoda, who played Nobu, leader of The Hand, revealed that Jeph Loeb, then-head of Marvel TV, had purposefully cut storylines for his character while claiming “nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people.”
One of the most glaring problems with “Daredevil” and its partner show “The Defenders” were their slight and stereotypical portrayals of their Asian characters, when they weren’t just part of a faceless mob of ninjas for the eponymous hero to beat up.

Daredevil star Peter Shinkoda says that former Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb made anti-Asian comments to the writers of the popular Netflix series behind the scenes. "If we landed with them, that means we should've ejected." You have to see this impressive sci-fi short film titled Hyperlight, about two astronauts on a cool space ship traveling far to another place in the galaxy in another star system. Set at a time when humans have just achieved faster-than-light travel, this short has an ambitious concept but director Nguyen-Anh Nguyen pulls it off so amazingly well, with some slick VFX work and captivating sci-fi story. Hyperlight stars Jeananne Goossen, Peter Shinkoda, and Caroline Dhavernas. There's a few big twists in this and lots to process, but it's another must watch sci-fi short film. Thanks to Short of the Week for the tip. Synopsis for Hyperlight from Vimeo: 'Two elite astronauts wake up in the abyss of space; they return to their stranded ship and discover the surprising reason behind their mission's catastrophic failure." The 2017 Oscar nominations were revealed on Tuesday, and as anticipated, Casey Affleck is up for best actor for his role in Manchester by the Sea. While his performance in the film has put him in the spotlight, it has also shone a light on the multiple allegations of sexual harassment against him from 2010. Though both cases were eventually settled out of court, some people are not happy with how he is being celebrated so far this award season. Shortly after the nominations were released, Fresh Off the Boat actress Constance Wu took to social media to call out the actor and the Academy. "Men who sexually harass women 4 Oscar!" she wrote. "Bc good acting performance matters more than humanity, human integrity!Bc poor kid rly needs the help!" She also shared a longer piece from her conversation with actor Peter Shinkoda in which she compared his "nod" to President Donald Trump's election victory.

For those who feared that the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil series wouldn’t equal the outstanding quality of the first year, then worry no more…Daredevil’s sophomore season is just as good as the first year, and much of that is due to the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), who steals the show. We review the season, but beware of spoilers.
With two seasons under its red belt, it has to be stated now that the Netflix Daredevil series is the finest super hero comic-based show ever produced. When the first year debuted, it was the single best season of any comic book to TV adaptation, but it was still too premature to call it the best comic book show ever. Now, after two years and 26 episodes, it has to be said…Daredevil is on a level above any other super hero show.
Spoilers ahead…

As excited as we are for the upcoming release of "Captain America: Civil War," there's another piece of the Marvel Universe dropping much sooner: "Daredevil" Season 2.
The second season of Netflix's hit series starts March 18 and it picks up with Matt Murdock and his city confronting an uncertain future -- just as new allies and enemies emerge.
Whether you need a quick primer for the new season, or just aren't very familiar with the Daredevil franchise, we're here to help. Here are five key things to know before returning to Hell's Kitchen.
1. There's Chaos In Hell's Kitchen
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) may have toppled Kingpin's (Vincent D'Onofrio) regime at the end of Season 1, but that doesn't mean Hell's Kitchen has necessarily become a safer place.
As the second season opens, various criminal organizations are moving in and trying to take advantage of the power vacuum in the city. That...

TNT's Falling Skies is set in the aftermath of an alien attack which has left much of the world incapacitated. As survivors band together to fight back, each day is a test of survival. And according to star Noah Wyle, making the series was no day at the beach, either. Wyle tells Digital Spy he is glad the series wasn't cancelled in mid-season, so that the audience could get some "closure." That said, Wyle also confesses that making Falling Skies was a real "slog."
Before ending on August 30, 2015, Falling Skies ran for five seasons on TNT. The Falling Skies cast includes: Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Jessy Schram, Connor Jessup, Maxim Knight, Colin Cunningham, Sarah Carter, Peter Shinkoda, and Mpho Koaho. Read on for more from Wyle. Read More…...

Marvel has managed to completely reinvigorate the superhero movie in a massive way. It all began with 2008’s Iron Man and then spread out to the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, culminating in the release of 2012’s The Avengers. But since then, Marvel hasn’t been content to just focus on the big league superheroes.
Rather, with Phase Two, they’ve started to branch out a little bit more. Not only have there been wild card characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy but Marvel even expanded out into television with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Now comes the release of Daredevil, a Marvel-produced series airing exclusively on Netflix: a new move that promises to revolutionize the superhero genre yet again.

As if Matt Murdock didn’t have enough to deal with already (blindness, the evil Kingpin, endless legal paperwork), he’ll also have to deal with a phalanx of new bad guys in Marvel and Netflix’s new 13-episode Daredevil.Adding depth to Hell’s Kitchen's supporting characters are Rob Morgan, who'll play nickel-and-dime hood Turk Barrett, and Dexter's Matt Gerald, who steps into the shoes of machinist Melvin Potter. In the Marvelverse, Potter is a costumer-turned-supervillain called Gladiator. Although there’s no mention of that in Marvel’s press release, the “machinist" part may offer a clue. Gladiator is known for his chunky metal armour.Joining Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk (Aka The Kingpin) on the side of naughtiness are Peter Shinkoda's Nobu, a Japanese businessman with a shadowy agenda. With less than a month to go before Netflix unveils all thirteen episodes of Marvel’s Daredevil, the specific details of the characters primed to go up against the titular hero continue to mount. Today, a sextet of new Marvel villains – set to throw a spanner in the works for poor Matt Murdock – have been unveiled.
While we know that Vincent D’Onofrio’s bald-headed baddie Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin) will deliver the overarcing evil, there’s still plenty of room for more dastardly villains in the grimy back alleys and streets of Hell’s Kitchen. The six new characters include Person Of Interest star Rob Morgan, who will play Turk Barrett, a smalltime criminal in Hell’s Kitchen; and Dexter‘s Matt Gerald as Melvin Potter, a machinist caught between a rock and a hard place.
In addition, a new foursome has been announced in the shape of Fisk’s lackeys.

Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil has added Rob Morgan, Matt Gerald, Peter Shinkoda, Wai Ching Ho, Nikolai Nikolaeff and Gideon Emery to its cast. Out of that bunch, only two would appear to be playing established Marvel Comics characters: Rob Morgan (Person of Interest) will play small-time Hell's Kitchen criminal Turk Barret (aka Mauler), and Gerald (Avatar) will be taking on the role of Melvin Potter, also known as Gladiator, who starts out as an enemy of Matt Murdock's but later becomes an ally. On the show he'll be "a machinist caught between a rock and a hard place". The others are all playing characters on the side of Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin: Shinkoda (Falling Skies) is Nobu (a Japanese businessman with a mysterious agenda), Ho (Law And Order: Svu) will play Madame Gao (a powerful woman running her own trade), while Nikolaeff (Camp) and Emery (Grimm) will play Vladimir and Anatoly,...

Marvel Studios left their hordes of fans a bit disappointed after their Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, not only because they didn’t talk about any upcoming Phase Three projects beyond Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but because they also didn’t turn any of the spotlight toward their upcoming Daredevil series on Netflix.
They did announce that the show will hit the streaming service in May 2015, but beyond that we got no plot details or images from the highly anticipated series. It is, however, currently filming in Brooklyn under the codename “Bluff,” giving impatient fans the opportunity to take matters into their own hands and snap a few photos from the set.

Our anticipation for next year’s Daredevil series, the first of multiple collaborations between Netflix and Marvel, has been steadily rising over the past few weeks as the show has filled out its main cast. Charlie Cox has been cast in the role of Matt Murdock, destined to become the titular vigilante; Vincent D’Onofrio will play Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin; Rosario Dawson is playing an unknown “absolutely critical” character; Deborah Ann Woll has been cast as love interest Karen Page; Elden Henson will portray Murdock’s best friend, Foggy Nelson; and Peter Shinkoda has come aboard as an original character named Hachiro. That’s an extremely talented crop of actors – but it’s only one reason we’re excited for the series.

Marvel has announced that “True Blood” star Deborah Ann Woll has landed the main female lead in Netflix’s upcoming “Daredevil” TV show, which will star Charlie Cox as the blind superhero by night, crusading lawyer by day. She joins the previously cast Vincent D’Onofrio as Daredevil’s main nemesis the Kingpin, with Rosario Dawson in an undisclosed role, Elden Henson as Matt Murdock’s lawyer buddy Foggy Nelson, and “Falling Skies’” Peter Shinkoda. In the “Daredevil” comic books, Page is Matt Murdock’s civilian girlfriend. With Woll playing Page, that still leaves Dd’s other main lady, Elektra, uncast. Or is she? You gotta figure it has to be Dawson, right? Otherwise they would have told us who she was playing already if it wasn’t the case. The 13-episode first season bows next year on the streaming channel.
