'That's So Raven's Rondell Sheridan Hospitalized With "Severe Illness" as Fans Come to His Aid
Image
There are all types of classic TV dads: Archie Bunker from All in the Family, Ward Cleaver on Leave It to Beaver, and James Evans from Good Times are a few. TV dads from the early 2000s were a little bit different, though. They were more playful and a lot less stern, especially Victor Baxter in Disney Channel's That's So Raven. He became a fan-favorite character in the series, and viewers couldn't get enough of Raven and Cory's dad. Rondell Sheridan, the actor who played the head of the Baxter household, needed help from his loyal fans after revealing that he has been dealing with a medical condition for over a month. And those fans have delivered.

Rondell, who is 66 years old, updated his supporters on his health in a post on social media. While lying in a hospital bed, he explained that he had been hospitalized for pancreatitis.

Why That's So Raven Ended
Image
That’s So Raven is a celebrated classic Disney sitcom that featured the talented Raven-Symoné as teen psychic Raven Baxter, running from 2003 to 2007. The endearing comedy centered on the spunky high-school student and her close pals Chelsea and Eddie, and chronicled the many hijinks and misadventures the trio got mixed up in due to Raven’s not-so-clear visions. The wholesome show famously showcased Raven wearing hilariously over-the-top disguises she would create during her many schemes, and amassed a devoted fan base during its tenure.

With an additional cast including Anneliese van der Pol, Orlando Brown, and Kyle Massey, the sitcom helped establish the careers of its up-and-coming leads. That’s So Raven was a ratings dream for Disney Channel and garnered critical acclaim throughout its four seasons, becoming the first show on the network to exceed three seasons and reach 100 episodes.

The comedy also experienced some growing pains throughout its run, with...

Three arrive as 'House' guests
A trio of actors have signed on to guest star on Disney Channel's upcoming series Cory in the House, a spinoff of the network's hit comedy That's So Raven.

George Takei, known for his role as Sulu on the original Star Trek, Don Stark, who played Bob Pinciotti on Fox's That '70s Show, and Lupe Ontiveros, who played Carlos Solis' mother on ABC's Desperate Housewives, are appearing on the series, which premieres at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 12.

Cory, which marks Disney Channel's first-ever series spinoff, features Raven's Kyle Massey and Rondell Sheridan reprising their roles as son and father Cory and Victor Baxter. The show finds the pair moving to the White House after Victor is hired as the personal chef to the newly elected president (John D'Aquino), now that Raven has gone off to college and mom Tanya has moved to the U.K. to finish law school.

Takei and Stark are appearing in the same episode, with Takei playing Ronald, the snooty head steward on Air Force One, and Stark playing Russian Prime Minister Schuzoff.

"Even before we launched this sitcom, we knew Raven and her fellow cast members were gems," said Gary Marsh, executive vp original programming and production at Disney Channel. "Each has their own brand of physical comedy, and together they are like The Carol Burnett Show meets In Living Color for kids and families." After a big launch in January, which posted records for a Disney Channel original series premiere in households (3.0 rating) and key demos including kids 6-11 (8.4) and tweens 9-14 (8.1), Raven has established itself as a hit for the channel, running neck and neck in the ratings with the juggernaut Lizzie McGuire. Co-starring on Raven, from Brookwell McNamara Entertainment and Disney Channel, are Orlando Brown, Anneliese van der Pol, Kyle Orlando Massey, T'Keyah Crystal Keymah and Rondell Sheridan. David Brookwell, Sean McNamara, Marc Warren and Dennis Rinsler are executive producing.
