They’ll perform their infamous “Bible in Ten Minutes” slide show and play a selection from the God Is Disappointed in You audiobook, as read by James Urbaniak (The Venture Brothers), recently nominated for an Audie Award for Best Comedy Audiobook. They will also give a sneak preview of the hotly anticipated sequel, Apocrypha Now.

Jason Segel to Star in Maple Syrup Heist Comedy
Sony Pictures has acquired an untitled heist comedy pitch that has Jason Segel attached to star and Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) set to direct.

Family Guy writer Chris Sheridan penned the screenplay, based on a daring 2012 heist where $20 million worth of maple syrup was siphoned from 16,000 45-gallon barrels at Quebec's Federation of Maple Syrup Producers. More than 20 people have been arrested in connection with the heist, after investigators found the syrup in a New Brunswick facility. While the heist is still under investigation, it is believed that the syrup was hauled away in some type of tanker truck.

It isn't clear what role Jason Segel will have in this comedy caper, but he will also produce alongside Seth Gordon and Barry Josephson. No production schedule was given.

Jason Segel most recently had a cameo appearance in This Is the End, and he will next be seen in Sex Tape, alongside Cameron Diaz.

Jason Segel Attached To Maple Syrup Heist Comedy

Jason Segel Attached To Maple Syrup Heist Comedy
Make no mistake: maple syrup is serious business in Canada, where it’s a precious commodity and treated with the respect usually reserved for oil elsewhere. Now someone thinks a comedy could be made from a real-life heist of the stuff – several someones, in fact, with Sony nabbing the rights to the story for Jason Segel to star and Seth Gordon to direct. Inspired by real events chronicled by reporter Anne Sutherland in the Montreal Gazette, Family Guy writer Chris Sheridan is cooking up the story of how more than $20 million worth of the sticky stuff was nicked from Quebec’s Federation of Maple Syrup Providers in 2012. At least 20 arrests have been made in conjunction with the case (the Mounties do, after all, always get their man). Like we said: syrup is serious business, even if it doesn't quite carry the obvious weight of, say, Argo...Gordon, who recently dropped

If you think Canadian maple syrup isn't a big deal, check out this segment from "The Daily Show" now: As for that heist, over 20 people have been arrested in conjunction with the heist. Jason Segel's Maple Syrup Heist Movie Sounds Oddly Compelling

Sony has ordered some syrup to go with its sausage.

After greenlighting fellow food-related comedy "Sausage Party," the studio announced that it has also signed up Jason Segel to star in a movie based on a real-life Canadian maple syrup heist.

The as-yet-untitled project, directed by Seth Gordon ("Identity Thief," "Horrible Bosses"), will tell the story of a ring of thieves who stole more than $20 million worth of maple syrup from Quebec's Federation of Maple Syrup Producers in 2012. More than 20 people have been arrested in connection with the crime.

The script, to be penned by "Family Guy" scribe Chris Sheridan, will draw from the reporting of Montreal Gazette writer Anne Sutherland. It's being billed as a "comedy with dramatic overtones," though the stranger than fiction sticky situation strikes us as more seriously funny than just plain serious.

It's unclear who Segel will be playing, but as long as it involves

Jason Segel to Star in Heist Movie With Major Breakfast Implications

Just days after the final suspect has been arrested in connection with one of the most massive maple syrup heists in Canada’s history, Sony Pictures has acquired the rights to a pitch that will turn the whole story into a comedy starring Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Muppets star Jason Segel. Let’s back up and look a little bit closer at the story that’s inspiring this tale though, because despite what Hollywood might think, syrup thievery is no laughing matter. Especially to Canadians. Anne Sutherland of the “Montreal Gazette” was the first journalist to break the story that, between the dates of August 1, 2011 and July 20, 2012, a gang of sticky-fingered syrup thieves had siphoned off the contents of 16,000 45 gallon barrels of maple syrup that were being stored in a warehouse located in Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, which is about 95 kilometers southwest of Quebec City. In total, the thieves were said to be knee-deep in $20 million worth of sticky

Leguizamo will star in a pilot based loosely on his life as a husband and father living on Manhattan's affluent Upper West Side while trying to stay connected to his roots in the Bronx. Leguizamo also co-wrote the story for the pilot with Chris Sheridan ("Family Guy," "Titus").

Other pilot news:

- Kevin Pollak ("The Usual Suspects," "Shark") has joined the cast of CBS' "Beverly Hills Cop" series, which stars Brandon T. Jackson as the son of Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy, who will appear in and is an executive producer of the pilot). He'll play the in-house counsel for the Beverly Hills Pd,
