Mini Bio (1)

International actress and French singer in front of the camera - songwriter, screenwriter, photographer and director behind the camera, Melissa Mars is one of those jack-of-all-trades artists who started her career at the age of 13. She received major notice in the United States and around the world after appearing alongside John Travolta in From Paris with Love (2010) produced by Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita (1990), Lucy (2014)), winning a best supporting actress award for her performance in The Cabining (2014), and having her song "Beautiful" be included in Coca-Cola's "52 Songs of Happiness" worldwide music compilation.

She is well-known in France for her pop music career. She released 3 solo albums with Universal Music, and featured on many duets, including "1980", a duet which reached number 5 in the charts. She is also well known for her leading role in the successful musical Mozart L'Opéra Rock (2010) directed by Olivier Dahan (La Vie en Rose (2007)), a smash hit with more than 1,500,000 tickets sold, 3 NRJ music awards, and a diamond record.

In her teens, she started writing and filming anything and everything that attracted her eye and excited her imagination. A self-taught artist, she learned to write, edit, and master Photoshop and graphic design. In 2007, she started to officially direct her music videos (Melissa Mars: Love Machine (2007), Army of Love (2008)...) and short films. In November 2007, she exhibited a series of photographs of children in China to promote children's rights; the exhibition was praised in both Elle magazine and Metro Daily.

Melissa Mars has been traveling between Los Angeles, New York and Paris, moving between the worlds of music and film. In 2018, she just had her American TV debut on Lifetime in Deadly Delusion (2017), a thriller alongside Haylie Duff (Napoleon Dynamite (2004)) and Teri Polo (Meet the Parents (2000), The Fosters (2013)...). Several other projects are soon to be released: among which the four-part series "Texas Zombie Wars"; and for the first time, Melissa explores a pure comedic character in Puzzled, an upcoming original series that features "Hors La Loi" an original song of hers in the opening titles.

Personal Quotes (3)

[About shooting a movie in Erbil, Kurdistan (Iraq)] When I think that not less than 50 miles away from here is the war of unspeakable violence. But 50 miles or 500 miles from Erbil or from Paris or L.A there is no difference for me. I do not know what to do. I can not do anything. Just convey information, forward it, tell stories, come in an area where we are shooting the first international film, share the splendor and History of it soon with you, see the smiles and happiness of the local crews, "action" "bedeng!" Silence - it makes me feel somehow "of use" in this world.
[About her first dubbing experience for "Weightless", Terrence Malick feature starring an ensemble cast including Natalie Portman, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara...] A completely new experience of Acting: just a few seconds are given to sync your voice and your own acting into what another actor did and prepared in weeks or months, trying to respect their work, personality, energy, given circumstances, emotions and keep it reel by being just behind a mic, not in the situation, not in the wardrobe, not with the other actor... crying on the go... Wow!!! It's pretty intense.
About shooting her music video in Kurdistan, Iraq: "Because Music, Cinema and Art in general... have no borders, no religion!"
