Family: Fast/Furious, 2001-2017

How can we not talk about family When family's all that we got?—Wiz Khalifa (feat. Charlie Puth), See You AgainWhat a long, strange ride it's been… and still some way to go. As I write, the eighth film in the Fast/Furious series (Ff) is still playing in thousands of cinemas worldwide. I won't concern myself here with the box-office performance of The Fate of the Furious—nor will I attempt synopsis of this or the previous installments—except to note that enough money was taken on opening-day alone to confirm we can expect the ninth and tenth in this prodigiously lucrative Universal franchise to hit our screens late spring or early summer, in 2019 and 2021.Ideally the 10th—and, presuming Vin Diesel's September 2015 comment about "one last trilogy" is honored, final—picture should arrive exactly 20 years after Rob Cohen’s The Fast and the Furious bowed on 22nd June,

'Fast and Furious' Roundup: The Past and the Future

With the imminent release of The Fate of the Furious, the cast and crew are busy talking about the new movie as well as past installments of the increasingly popular series. Here are the latest news bites. What happened to Leon? Leon (Johnny Strong, above, in the rear) was one of five members of the original core team. Only two of them appear in the newest movie: Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Jesse (Chad Lindberg) was killed in the first movie, while Vince (Matt Schulze) died during Fast Five. But the fate of Leon remains up in the air. In The Fast and the Furious, Leon was last seen driving away with Dom, Letty and Mia (Jordana Brewster). What happened to him after that? Strong has his theory, as shared with EW: "I think it’s...

Caught In A Bad Bromance – Hollywood’s Best Tough Guy Crews

Guns, muscles and brotherhood – these are three elements that define every man-centric action film. Be it through elaborate stunts, outlandish weapon tricks or a good old fight sequence, these adrenaline-driven flicks never fail to deliver a hefty dose of excitement and testosterone, blended together to create an electrifying experience. While there is usually one leading guy whose character does all of the above, it is not uncommon to have a movie revolve around a whole crew fighting together for a common cause. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s latest return to the action scene, the David Ayer-directer Sabotage, does just that. Ditching his traditional lone wolf persona, Schwarzenegger is joined by action favourites Sam Worthington, Joe Manganiello and Josh Holloway, forming a dream team of Hollywood tough guys. A thrilling game of cat and mouse between a group of DEA agents gone rogue and a mysterious assassin on their heels, Sabotage is coming to Blu-ray,

'Fast & Furious' is the Nexus of Action Franchises -- Infographic
Vin Diesel has been teasing a role in an upcoming Marvel movie for a long time now. Just today, he all-but-confirmed to EW the rumors that he was voicing a character in one of the superhero-studio’s movies — probably Guardians of the Galaxy, probably Groot. This may be surprising, but it’s actually simply the next phase in an ongoing evolutionary process that dates back to the dawn of the new century. You see, way back in 2000 2001, Vin Diesel headlined The Fast and the Furious, a movie about fast cars and the furious people who drive fastly. Diesel left; in respone,

Exclusive Interview With Actor Max Beasely

  • CinemaRetro
By Arlene R. Weiss

British actor, musician, Maxton Gig “Max” Beesley, Jr’s destiny as an actor was firmly set when his mom was inspired by American, Academy Award® winning actor Gig Young, in choosing her son’s middle name. Beesley, born and raised in his beloved Manchester, England, was raised in a family steeped in the arts. His father, Max Beesley, Sr. is a venerable jazz drummer and impressionist, and his mother Chris Marlowe was a jazz singer. His step-brother Jason Milligan is also an actor and Jason’s wife Angela Griffin is an actress.

At first, American audiences may not easily recognize Max Beesley’s name, but in fact, many are far more familiar with his esteemed CV of work, which includes numerous acclaimed acting roles in many stellar films, TV series, and also a supreme music career, than they realize.

Beesley has garnered considerable praise and is

Rear View Mirror: A Journey Through The Fast and the Furious Series So Far…

Truth be told, up until very recently, not only had I not seen a single The Fast and the Furious movie, I wasn’t really in any great rush to do so either. I’d heard from various sources that the first outing was an over the top piece of guilty fun, but after that they all kind of tailed off. That all changed however when Fast Five came out in 2011 to extremely warm critical reviews.

Bringing some familiar faces from the rest of the series back into the fold and adding the man-mountain that is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was a clear statement of intent that this instalment was not doing anything by halves. Here was a movie that took being massively Ott to new heights and gleefully reveled in its ridiculous nature. Reviews suggested Diesel and Johnson came together like a beefed up version of De Niro and

Fast & Furious: looking back at the whole saga

Feature Ryan Lambie 2 May 2013 - 06:57

With Fast & Furious 6 on the horizon, we revisit the entire series from beginning to end, and dig out our favourite moments...

It's strange to think that it's well over a decade since the Fast franchise began. But like a juggernaut rolling down a hill, this ageing series shows no sign of slowing down; in fact, this year's Fast & Furious 6 will be joined by yet another sequel, Fast Seven, due out in cinemas next year.

But given that the Fast movies now have such a long history, with various stars fading in and out of them as the past decade has rolled on, perhaps it's a good time to look back at how the series has evolved, and work out how its events will lead up to Fast & Furious 6...

The Fast And The Furious (2001)

The first Fast movie is something of a Frankenstein’s monster of a movie.

Vin Diesel staying Fast and Furious with seventh film

Hollywood loves a franchise and this year we've seen studios stretching sagas - and doubling the box office - by separating films into two parts, as happened with the conclusions of Twilight and Harry Potter and as will also be the case with The Hobbit.

Although a fairly unlikely contender for big-screen longevity - because of its seemingly simple road-racing concept and lack of a cherished literary source - The Fast And The Furious series is now extending itself even further.

We knew a sixth film was scheduled to arrive on May 27, 2013, and Vin Diesel says the story has become so big that they have decided to split it into a sixth and seventh instalment.

The 44-year-old actor, who stars as Dominic Toretto in the franchise about men with a passion for super-cars, told The Hollywood Reporter: "With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters,

Vin Diesel Ready for 'Fast & Furious' Six… and Seven

  • NextMovie
In the true spirit of the franchise, star Vin Diesel has confirmed that a seventh "Fast & Furious" is already in the works—even though shooting the sixth hasn't started yet. (According to the action hero, the story is just "too massive" to be corralled into a single movie.)

Diesel explains that the scripts are being written simultaneously (which is a pretty tall order if you ask us, but we digress). No word yet on whether they will shoot the installments back-to-back or if the cast and crew will get a little break in between. But, let's be honest, this franchise isn't really about taking things slow.

Why the rush? It's really a matter of housekeeping. "With the success of the last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six,

Vin Diesel Confirms Fast & Furious 7

  • LOVEFiLM
Vin Diesel, star of the decade-long Fast & Furious franchise, has confirmed that in addition to the recently confirmed sixth movie, there will also be a Fast & Furious 7.

Speaking to THR, Diesel confessed that the scale of the story in the next instalment requires a seventh film, the script for which is being written alongside the sixth’s.

“With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space,” he admitted.

The previous film which saw the return of Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Matt Schulze, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot and the welcome addition of Dwayne Johnson, proved the most successful film in franchise history.

“We have to pay off this story, we have to
